Our Review of The Walt Life Subscription Box – The Magic of Disney Delivered to Your Door

August 4, 2020 in All Posts, review by Vy

**Disclosure: We were provided a free, one-time shipment of the Walt Life subscription box for this review, but all opinions are our own.**

Although the Downtown Disney District has reopened to provide a small dose of Disney magic, we are still awaiting the day that the gates to our beloved Disneyland Park will reopen (when it is safe and appropriate). So, the team here at Babes in Disneyland continue to find ways to bring Disney into our homes, whether through our Disney at Home recipes, party decor, or even just posting our favorite Disney coffee mugs of the day on social media!

With the rise of home delivery during the shutdown, coupled with the excitement you get when receiving a package in the mail, it’s no wonder that the subscription box delivery model has become all the rage. So why wouldn’t you want to get some a dose of Disney magic delivered right to your doorstep? That’s where the The Walt Life Fan Club comes in.

What is the Walt Life subscription box?

The Walt Life Fan Club (www.waltlife.com) is a curated subscription box service that delivers officially licensed Disney and Disney Parks items to your home on a monthly basis. They offer a variety of different boxes for all ages, and you can build your box from a series of different options.  Here is a breakdown of the different tiers:

  • Classic Box / $30 – 3+ Disney mystery items, skip a month feature, and free USA shipping
  • Magic Box / $39 – 4+ Disney mystery items, customize your box, skip a month feature, Disney giveaway entry, and free USA shipping
  • Surprise! Box /$48 – For those planning a surprise trip to Disney, the “Surprise! Box” is a way to send a subscription box to announce your Disney vacation! Free USA shipping
  • Magic Plus Box / $49 – the Walt Life bestseller! Receive 5+ Disney Mystery Items, Customize Your Box, Skip a Month Feature, Disney Giveaway Entry, and free USA shipping
  • Kingdom Box / $79 – 6+ Disney mystery items, customize your box, skip a month feature, Disney giveaway entry, and free USA shipping.

There are also special boxes for Star Wars fans and shipments for Disney pin collectors as well!

Do they offer one-time boxes?

Yes! According to their website, you can also order one-time boxes as well, but keep in mind that they do not offer free shipping with the one-time boxes.  The breakdown of the prices are below and may be slightly higher than the subscription service.

  • Classic (One-time) / $30
  • Magic (one-time) / $49
  • Magic Plus (one-time) / $58
  • Kingdom (one-time) / $89

How Do I Order?

Ordering is pretty easy and straightforward. First, decide which box you’d like to build (from the tiers mentioned above), then the customization begins.

The first question will be, which gender would you like? This helps the Walt Life team determine the different mystery items in your box.

The next question will ask you to choose your age. If this is subscription box for your family, we would probably recommend choosing “All Ages” to get a variety of items. Otherwise, choose your appropriate age range.

Then you determine who the box is for by entering the recipient’s first and last name and their email address.

What kind of items do you get in the subscription box?

I filled out the customization form for myself: gender (female) and my age range, so the mystery items I received are going to look very different than what others may receive. In this box (Magic Plus subscription), I received:

  • One pair of pink and blue polka dot Minnie headband ears
  • A 2020 official Disney picture frame
  • A 2020 Mickey Mouse keychain
  • A Mickey earhat keychain feature Eve from “Wall-E”
  • A Mary Poppins “Practically Perfect” baseball cap
  • A bag of Minnie Mouse “Jelly Belly” jellybeans

Our Initial Thoughts

As with any bit of mystery mail, it was really fun and exciting to receive the box in the mail and go through all the different goodies to discover what had been curated for me as a Disney fan. We received a really nice note from Sarah (including a postcard photo), which brings a nice human touch to the process.

We noticed that while some of the items did skew female (i.e. the headband ears and the Mary Poppins hat), there were also a few items that probably would have been better suited under the ‘neutral’ category. I personally think my favorite item from the entire box was the Minnie Mouse headband ears, because it’s such an iconic souvenir that reminds you of Disneyland and it was an official Disney Parks item.

Review

Overall, the Walt Life subscription box has the potential of being a really fun monthly shipment that you can look forward to if you’re a Disney fan that loves to collect Disney items, whether or not they come from the official Disney Parks. Do keep in mind that all of the items are curated based on two basic questions – your gender and your age. You don’t really have any control over what you receive and other recipients may post about their boxes and get items that you would prefer to have.  The box may seem small when you receive it, but it is packed with a lot of fun mystery items, and some boxes will give you the chance to win more prizes for sharing your experience on social media as well.

Specifically for our readers, we like the idea of the “Surprise!” box because it’s a great way to drum up excitement about an upcoming Disney vacation that you are planning – a fun surprise for little ones if it is their first time, and for the price point, it’s a great range of souvenirs for the price you pay for the actual subscription – for example, the Minnie Mouse headband ears usually retail around $30 on their own, and the “Practically Perfect” hat retailed at $27.99, so if you receive a pair of these in your box, it’s a great value for what you paid for.

We didn’t get a chance to experience an “all ages” box, but I think for families, this subscription service can provide monthly doses of Disney magic that cater to all ages and preferences/tastes.
