Magic Moments at Disneyland’s new Fantasy Faire
March 9, 2013 in All Posts, characters, disneyland, fantasy faire, fantasyland, girls, princess
Disney Firsts are magical things. The first time a child sees his favorite character or experience a new attraction or ride can be truly magical. I recently wrote about turning the camera away from the Disney action and photographing your child’s face as they react to the magic. On the heals of that post, my son Connor and Kendra’s daughter Emma experienced Fantasy Faire during a media preview earlier this week. To say it was a day full of magical moments would be a gross understatement. Here are some of my favorite moments: from the day! Curious about what special...

Located in the former Carnation Plaza Gardens, Fantasy Faire is an extension of Fantasyland and is themed to blend in with the colors, theming and architecture of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Fantasy Faire is essentially “princess central.”The new Fantasy Faire features:A princess meet and greet, the Royal Hall, allows guests to queue up to meet three different princesses. The hall will typically feature Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and Ariel. Each meeting area is secluded and intimate and a perfect place for one on one time. (Be sure you have a flash on your camera, because the rooms are dark.) A...

Lisa and I, and our “Babes” attended a Princess Fantasy Faire Media Event at Disneyland yesterday. Connor and Emma became fast friends; bonding over character meet-and-greets, live stage shows, and our favorite new snack- Cheddar Garlic Bagel Twists and “Boysen Apple” Freezes. Seeing Fantasy Faire through their eyes made the day all the more special. When last we visited hard hats, construction vests, and protective eye wear were required- since then so much progress has been made. It was truly so exciting to preview this new attraction, where I will no doubt be spending quite a bit of time...
Terrific Tip Tuesday: A Perfect Castle Photo Every Time
in All Posts, dapper day, photography, Tips & Tricks for Families
I once figured out that I’ve spent more than 1,000 days at Disneyland in my life time. That’s a lot of time. A lot. In all that time, I’ve taken countless photos at Disneyland, many of which in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. I love how iconic it is and how beautifully it photographs. Yet even though I know full well that Disneyland is a public place, I always yearn for photos without other guests in them. On Dapper Day I wanted a picture with my boys in front of the castle to memorialize the special day. My friend...
Wreck It Ralph DVD and App Reviews!
March 5, 2013 in All Posts, disney video games and online, review
Wreck It Ralph joined the Disney DVD library of home video titles today and since it arrived in our home a couple of weeks ago, my house has not been the same. My kids have been “fixing” things like “Fix-It Felix” and had more pretend video game adventures than you can shake a joystick at. Wreck It Ralph is the story of a video game character, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly), who has played the bad guy in his popular video game for many years. In a bold move, he embarks on an action-packed adventure and sets out...

From sparkly green to rich golds and moody reds, there is a color palette for any Disney-loving adult looking to spruce up their look with a bit of...

“All the birds sing words and the flowers croon in the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room,” but did you know these 5 facts about Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room?1. This attraction was the first to use Audio-Animatronics. While the Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland was the first to use Animatronics, this was the next major step in the development of that technology. The technology used here went on to pave the way for marvels like Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more.2. When Imagineer Harriet Burns was looking for the best material to use...
