On a hot Disneyland day, what treats do you indulge in to cool off? There is going to be a lot of debate regarding this post because there are so many delicious cool treats at the Disneyland Resort. I’ve tried to narrow down some of my favorites that I seem to return to over and over again when I visit the Parks (and sorry – the Mickey-shaped ice cream didn’t make this list).
Here’s a round-up of some of my favorite “beat the heat” Disneyland treats!
Dole Whip Float (Tiki Bar, Adventureland)
While the Dole Whip is arguably one of the most popular treats at the Disneyland Resort, when it comes to the Tiki Bar, I choose the Dole Whip Float – the pineapple soft serve paired with a deliciously tart pineapple juice. You really get the benefits of the Dole Whip but thirst quenching of the pineapple juice – not to mention they serve it with a little umbrella! Just be prepared to wait in some long lines, but if you’re willing to brave the wait, the line moves as quickly as it can.
Pomegranate Piranha Lemonade (Bengal Barbecue, Adventureland)
How refreshing does this lemonade look? Featuring popping pomegranate pearls, a mango foam, and a tart lemonade, this delicious cold drink is available at Bengal Barbecue, across the way from Indiana Jones Adventure. If you are a fan of boba, the pearls will provide a flavor burst every time you take a sip.
Ice Cream Waffle Cone (Gibson Girl, Main Street U.S.A)
The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor is a must-visit on a hot day at the Resort. Whether you’re grabbing a root beer float or just a single scoop, ice cream is the fastest way to cool down when you want to beat the heat. My recommendation? Multiple scoops in a waffle cone – it’s shareable and a great treat when walking down Main Street USA.
Fresh Fruit (All Around the Resort)
While I’d like to think that my sweet tooth will always win the “beat the heat” game, sometimes a healthy dose of fresh fruit is just enough to cool you down, especially for the little ones. There are fresh fruit carts available all around the Disneyland Resort, offering up fresh pineapple spears, mango cubes, and even strawberries with chocolate. Who says everything at Disneyland is unhealthy?
Last but not least, #5 is really for the adults…
Carthay Circle Manhattan (Carthay Circle, Buena Vista Street)
On a blistering hot day, sneak away to the Carthay Circle Lounge and order yourself a Manhattan, which comes served with a perfectly spherical ice cube and some maraschino cherries. Sit back and feel transported to 1920’s Los Angeles, cooling down with this stiff adult beverage in hand and the cool air conditioning reprieve that the lounge provides.
