Understanding the Annual Pass Structure

September 18, 2012 in All Posts, disneyland resort, legacy annual pass, vy by Vy
At the Disneyland Resort, there are many options to choose from when you decide to purchase an Annual Passport but it is best to understand Disneyland’s AP structure before you and your entire family decide to become Annual Passholders.

Depending on your residency – whether you are a Southern California (SoCal) resident or you live out of town/out of state – there are many different AP packages/levels to select from, such as Premium, Deluxe, SoCal and SoCal Select.

Before we begin, a few terms you should know:
  • Blackout Dates– Dates in the calendar year where your Annual Pass is not  valid for entry into the Disney Parks
  • Monthly Payment Plan – A monthly payment option on a case-by-case basis by Passholders who live in the 90000 – 96199 zip codes.
  • AP Exclusive Events – All Annual Passholders have the opportunity to gain access to exclusive AP events, such as show previews or access to new lands before the public gets to see them!
The AP structure is a tiered system broken down in categories by what I like to call the 4 P’s:  Price, Peak Season Usage, Parking, and Privileges/Perks.  Below is a comprehensive guide on all the APs, based on these categories!

If you’re a Southern California Resident with zip codes 90000 through 93599, these next 2 passes apply to you!   If you are not a SoCal resident, click here to skip down to the Deluxe & Premium Passport descriptions!

SoCal Select Annual Passport
Price:  $269
Peak Season Usage:  Valid 170 days out of the year.  Weekends, summers, and major holidays excluded
Parking:  Not included in the ticket price; can add for an additional fee
Perks/Privileges:  Up to 10% discount on Merchandise and Dining; Access to AP Exclusive Events on non-blackout dates

SoCal Annual Passport
Price:  $329
Peak Season Usage:  215 days out of the year.  Saturdays, some Sundays, summer months, major holidays excluded
Parking:  Not included in the ticket price; can add for an additional fee
Perks/Privileges:  Up to 10% discount on Merchandise & Dining; Access to AP Exclusive Events on non-blackout dates

Deluxe Passport:
Price:  $469
Peak Season Usage:  315 days out of the year – blackout dates include Saturdays and major holidays (i.e. 4thof July, Christmas, etc.)
Parking:  Not included in pass; can add for an additional fee
Perks/Privileges:  Up to 10% discount on dining and merchandise; Access to AP Exclusive Events on non-blackout dates

Premium Passport:
Price:  $649
Peak Season Usage:  365 – no blackout dates!
Parking:  Included in Ticket Price
Perks/Privileges:  Up to 15% discount on dining and up to 20% discount on merchandise; Access to AP Exclusive Events

This structure allows visitors to the Disneyland Resort to find an Annual Passport that fits within their budget and their time schedule. While the price is steep when you have a family, many family’s consider the Disneyland Resort their main source of family entertainment each year and consider the annual passport payment paying for their entertainment in one-lump sum.

Being an passholder really changes the way a family (or individual) visits the Disneyland Resort. Gone are the days of rushing from one attraction to the next. Gone is the need to stay for 12 hours. Passholders feel more open to taking their time and enjoying things they may have never tried before, checking out shows they’ve never experience or just enjoying the beauty of the park.

It’s easy to become a Disneyland Annual Passholder!  Visit any Main Entrance Ticket Booth or go online at http://disneyland.disney.go.com/passes  to find more information and learn about the resort’s payment plan that spreads out passport payment process over the 12-month span of the pass.
