It has been a long wait. A long wait filled with so many amazing movies that have all built up to this moment…Avengers Infinity War! For well over two hours I sat mesmerized that we were finally here and that I was seeing the greatest collection of superheroes ever put on film. To see a movie like this once again reminded me how much I love the movies and how much Marvel and Disney have done to make sure that every frame of these films and specifically this film, is total perfection.
The story is very simple…Thanos is looking for the remaining Infinity Stones, and when he has them, he is going to wipe out half of the galaxy. Believe me, it all plays out here. We see it all come to a satisfying conclusion…even though we all know that this only part one!
The amazing thing about this film is that every character gets to play out a complete arc. It sounds impossible, but all are serviced properly. There are so many laughs, that I missed a bunch because of the crowd laughing and applauding. You simply cannot dislike this film.
The CGI, and there is a ton of it, is flawless. It’s not like we are looking at Steppenwolf in the dreadful Justice League. No, everything here looks like someone actually spent time on making it look great.
The main baddie, Thanos, is all CG and voiced by Josh Brolin. Except for the weird chin…there are no complaints, and even Star-Lord makes a joke about it. It never feels like he is not there with the real-life actors. The film takes place everywhere. All over earth and galaxy and it is full of emotional scenes that rank up there with the best of any of the past Marvel films. I was seriously exhausted when the credits rolled. It’s a feast for the eyes, ears, and mind.
Is Marvel Infinity War OK for kids?
There will only be ONE spoiler here…people die. Not gonna say who because that would ruin everything, but from the first few minutes to the final credits bonus scene, death is all around.
Infinity War is dark. I am considering not taking our youngest who is 8 to it, because it may leave some weird images in his head. Once you see it, you will know what I am referring to. I honestly think 10 may be the youngest age I would recommend seeing this movie — and only if that child has seen the other Marvel movies and was ok with the content in the other films.
Two important tips before you see Marvel Infinity War…
- Infinity War is kind of long (even though it doesn’t FEEL long.) Make sure you pee before it starts, ’cause you do not want to get up and go.
- Make sure you’ve brushed up on the Marvel characters, as you’ll want to have all of your background questions about characters like Hulk, Captain America, Black Panther, Vision, War Machine, Scarlett Witch, Thanos, Iron Man, Thor, Loki and the Guardians, The Collector, Dr. Strange and Spiderman before you head to the theater. You do not want to be the one person who is lost or confused as it all comes together.
