There has been a lot of information about the new Marvel-themed land in Disney California Adventure, otherwise known as Avengers Campus. With changes that seem to be constantly changing by the day, we’ve gathered up our top five (5) things we think you should know to help you plan your next visit to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.
There is no longer a queue to enter the land
As of June 15, when the Governor of California announced that the state would reopen and would no longer be restricting operations for many businesses, Disney California Adventure no longer has a standby queue to enter Avengers Campus. When the land first opened on June 4, only one entrance was being utilized and there was a standby queue that stretched throughout the entire Park as Disney Cast Members were limiting the number of Guests inside the land at any given time. Now, Guests can enter from Carsland and from Hollywood Studios, as well as the main entrance with no wait. So if you’re planning a trip, you can enter the land.
You still need a virtual boarding group to ride WEB Slingers, the new attraction in Avengers Campus
The newest attraction inside Avengers Campus is WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure. This is an interactive, multi-player style game that is similar to Toy Story Midway Mania, except you use your arms instead of using a pulley on a cannon. There are two opportunities to try for a boarding group: 7am, which does NOT require you to be present in the parks (only a valid ticket and reservation for the day) OR at 12 noon, which requires you to have scanned into DCA for the day (or either park if you have a park hopper). We will provide tips and tricks that worked for us to secure a WEB Slingers (WS) Boarding Group! Also important – for those who have park hoppers: you cannot hold a Rise of the Resistance (ROTR) and WS Boarding Group at the same time. So, if you are lucky to get into ROTR in the morning, you MUST have gone on the attraction by NOON or the app will not recognize that you have an open slot to try for WEB Slingers. Otherwise, you can enjoy the other attraction in Avengers Campus, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT!
There is very little shade in Avengers Campus
Gone are the shady clover “trees” that once enveloped A Bug’s Land and provided much needed shade (as well as forced perspective that you were the size of a bug). The land provides a fantastic view of Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout!, Avengers HQ, the Quinjet, and so much more, but during the hot summer months, you won’t find very many shady spots – which isn’t great for families with small children or expectant mamas. There are shaded seating areas over near the Hyperion Theater, which has been converted to be a primary eating area for Pym’s Test Kitchen, and Avengers HQ does provide shade against the hot sun. Be prepared with sunscreen, a hat, and lots of water! You’ll find small pockets of shade here and there. We suggest seeing Avengers Campus after the sun goes down!
Entertainment is listed in the Disneyland app
When the land first opened, the Resort wanted to discourage Guests from gathering to watch the different shows that would pop up out of nowhere. However, people would wait around and hover, waiting to see if they could catch a glimpse of the Spider-Man stunt animatronic or the Dora Milaje marching through the land. So now, all major appearances are available with times in the Disneyland app – make sure you’ve downloaded the latest version.
Put Your Mobile Orders in for Pym’s Test Kitchen early
If you are headed to the Parks and want to try some of the unique offerings that Pym’s Test Kitchen has to offer, make sure to check the Disneyland app for pick-up windows – you can order in the morning for a later pick-up time, but you may often find yourself hungry, wanting food, and checking the app only to see that the earliest pick-up time is either 1-2 hours off, or nothing is available. Make sure to prioritize the items that you want to eat during your visit to Avengers Campus.
