The Hungry Bear is a great place to bring meals from home! |
Lunch. It’s an important part of any guest’s day at the Disneyland Resort. A good lunch is not only fuel for the rest of your adventure but can be a much needed rest offering a chance to reflect on the day’s events and plan the remaining hours at the resort.
In a very unscientific poll of Babes In Disneyland readers and our (ok MY own) humble opinions, here are the top 5 places to eat lunch at the Disneyland Resort.
1. Hands down, the Hungry Bear Restaurant was named by Babes In Disneyland readers as the best place to have lunch at the Disneyland Resort and I couldn’t agree more. It is my family’s absolute favorite place to eat lunch. All meals are around the $10 mark and the burgers, chicken sandwiches and fried green tomato sandwich include amazing sweet potato fries or slaw. Drinks and desserts are extra. The onion rings are amazing.
The Hungry Bear is located near the entrance of Critter
Don’t forget to bring bread for the ducks. |
Country and always has ample seating, even on crowded days, which is ideal for families who need to eat NOW. Service can be slow, and for that reason, we usually bring food (or at least snacks) for the kids for that very reason.
Downstairs is one of the largest restroom facilities in the park with two changing areas. The best part of the downstairs area is the cool shade that is always a slice of heaven during the summer months. My children love sitting down there and feeding the ducks, so remember to bring old bread from home.
2. For a romantic or more formal lunch, the Blue Bayou, located in the Pirates of the Caribbean building in New Orleans Square is a reader and personal favorite. Suz and I had lunch there last year and had a wonderful meal. An all-time guest favorite is the Monte Cristo sandwich. It’s a deep fried sandwich…and it’s sweet. It’s kind of like a doughnut swallowed a ham sandwich and it’s amazing. It’s definitely large enough to share. The restaurant, like all restaurants at the resort offers a kids menu.
The Monte Cristo sandwich is friedand dusted with powdered sugar. Yes, powdered sugar. On a sandwich. And it’s all yours for $25. |
Meals range from $25 to $37 per person for adults. Reservations are recommended and should be made prior to your visit by calling (714) 781-DINE.
3. The Stage Door Cafe is located next to The Golden Horseshoe theater and restaurant located in Frontierland. While the Horseshoe is better known for its infamous Billy Hill and the Hill Billies shows and ice cream creation, it does offer a small lunch menu. Next door at the Stage Door, guests can get fish and chips, chicken tenders and those amazing Disneyland corn dogs. The Stage Door always has a shorter line than the Main Street corn dog cart, so head over there instead!
4. Located in Disney California Adventure park, Pacific Wharf is home to several restaurants, including Cocina Cucamonga, Pacific Wharf Cafe and The Lucky Fortune Cookery Chinese restaurant. I love eating in this area with my family because everyone can easily get exactly what they are hungry for and easily sit together and my kids love the atmosphere. If you love those sourdough bread bowl soups, the Pacific Wharf Cafe is your place to chow down while in Disney California Adventure.
5. Redd Rocket’s Pizza Port rated very high with Babes In Disneyland readers, although I must admit that it is not one of my favorites. The Pizza Port offers guests large portions and the ability to purchase a whole pizza, which can save families money. Guests can also get refills of their drinks, which is always nice considering drink prices.
Why don’t I love this restaurant? While I appreciate the portions large enough to share, I don’t care for the atmosphere or lack there of. Pizza Port lacks the charm and creativity I expect from a Disney restaurant.
Which restaurant is your favorite for a mid-day meal?

I agree that the Hungry Bear is a great choice. I just tried the Pizza Port pizza and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. For an early dinner/late lunch the Jolly Holiday cafe has an amazing special of toasted cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup. And the price was around $8! It was fantastic, and is now our fav.
