I’m a Disneyland girl, through and through. I love everything about it, but must admit that there are a few things I wish that Disneyland would adopt from the parks at Walt Disney World. So without further ado, here’s my list of the top things I think all Disneyland lovers would appreciate having at the Disneyland Resort.
1. Pirates League.
More than anything else in Walt Disney World, I wish that Disneyland had a Pirates League like the Magic Kingdom park. Pirates League is for boys what Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is for girls. Guests begin their transformation by receiving an official pirate name and then head to the muster station where they are made over and receive important pirate details like scars, beards, earrings and eye patches.
Like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, there are a number of packages including a regular pirate package and a Jake package (as in Jake and the Never Land Pirates!). I snapped this picture of a boy who had been transformed into Jake. He and his mom were overjoyed with the results and said it was worth every penny!
The good news on this one is that for a very limited time, Pirates League will be temporarily offered in Disneyland in New Orleans Square September 1 through October 31. Pirates League will offer three different packages for guests to choose from: Jake and the Never Land Pirates, First Mate (the full pirate makeover), and Empress (for the pirate princesses). Packages range from $29.95 – $34.95. Reservations can be made by calling (714) 781-STYLE.
Don’t forget this is only scheduled through October 31!
2. Bigger selection of Disney-owned hotels with a variety of price points
There’s nothing like staying on-property at a Disney-owned hotel. The problem with the Disneyland Resort is that the Disney-owned lodging options are not exactly budget-friendly. At the Walt Disney World Resort, guests have the option of budget-friendly on-property motels and hotels. In fact, it is possible to stay on property for less than $100 per night! that is unheard of at the Disneyland Resort-owned hotels. Walt Disney World offers lodging in a variety of price points making it much easier to have that Disney magic in their hotel stay no matter their budget.
3. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at Disneyland isn’t exactly an E-ticket attraction. You may find it interesting that the Winnie the Pooh attraction in Walt Disney World is so popular that it part of the FASTPASS system! Surprised? I was too…that is until I rode it. The Walt Disney World version of the attraction is much longer and is much more enchanting than its west coast counterpart. I really wish Disney would bring the sweet, lovely parts of Winnie the Pooh in Walt Disney World and replace the psychodelic portions currently used.
4. A water park.
There’s no denying the fact that nobody builds family entertainment like Disney. Walt Disney World has water parks and we need one in California. Period.
5. Character dining with my kids’ favorite pals from Disney Junior.
Character dining is a great way for kids to have an up-close and personal experience with the Disney characters. At the Hollywood Studios park in Walt Disney World, kids can dine with their Disney Junior pals and I don’t know about your kids, by my boys would flip if they could hang out with the likes of Jake and Handy Manny!

I’m so glad you didn’t say Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom. I think that would ruin DL.

I wish that WDW would bring back characters walking around and better/healthier food options. You guys totally win there!
