Not sure what to do with all your vacation photos? Set them to music! |
In my dreams, I am one of those crafty moms who creates beautiful momentos and scrapbooks inspired by Pinterest. Instead, I’m a working mom with barely enough hours in each day to get the necessities done. In my dream world, I would have beautiful books and collages documenting my kids’ Disney trips, but alas, this is not the case. For a long time, I was committed to making this happened, but one day I woke up and granted myself permission to not be Martha Stewart and just be me.
So, instead of creating my kids beautiful albums of photos with the thousands and thousands of photos in my iPhoto library, I have set selected photos (and videos) from our adventures to music. If you are a Mac user, this can easily be done in iPhoto or with a little more advanced skill, using iMovie. I am also a HUGE fan of the app Quik that lets you create videos from pics on your phone. Quik is FREE and so amazing, I have actually used it to create video for my clients! Any way you slice it, they are all pretty easy to use and if you just aren’t sure how to use either of them, the Apple Stores offer a variety of different classes on how to use their products.
Setting your photos and videos to music is a great way to not only force yourself to do something with all of those photos you take, but gives your kids a really fun way to look back at their vacation memories. Plus storing the videos on Youtube or Vimeo means they will be available to you and your family forever (theoretically) and if your computer crashes or you lose all of your data, you’ll still have those memories. (You can even make the videos private so only you can see them!) I also like setting photos to music because then any time I hear that song play, I am instantly transported to that trip in my mind’s eye.
Here are a few videos I’ve made and I think you’ll agree that this is a really fun way for us non-Martha types to create something memorable for our kids.
And this one, well… I can’t even watch it without crying my eyes out.
And I even made one for my girlfriends when we went to WDW together!
