Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings was a movie that neither I nor my dad knew much about when going to see it last week. We didn’t know what to expect because it was a lesser-known Marvel property. However, you needn’t worry as Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is one of the best Marvel films I’ve ever seen. The movie is so action-packed and hilarious that you won’t stop laughing. The action invokes that of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan as every single one of the fight scenes is so well choreographed that it’s almost exhausting to watch them–but in a really good way. The story is really well done and surprisingly deep for a Marvel movie. Unlike Black Widow, there are points in this movie that really make you question if there really is a bad guy.
You don’t have to be a Marvel expert to know what’s going on!
Many of you are probably wondering “What is this movie about?” and “If I don’t know who Shang Chi is, will I be lost?”. To answer your question, no. Shang Chi explains who these characters are and how they relate to the MCU. Speaking of the MCU, Shang Chi really dives into world-building throughout the movie, we visit new places and meet all new kinds of people and dangers. Shang Chi also has many callbacks to past marvel films but if you don’t get any of them don’t worry as the film loves to explain the MCU’s past so that no one is left in the dark (But you may want to see Iron Man 3 again). We also see some returning faces from past marvel films, however Shang Chi does not overdo the cameos and they only really serve as our outside faces to the greater Marvel cinematic universe. Shang Chi really stands on its own and outstandingly contests the spot for the best solo superhero film that’s come out in the last five years.
Marvel has done it again!
In conclusion, you should really see Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings I really have nothing negative to say about it and honestly, for the last couple of days, I’ve only been telling people how good it is. For action/fight scene ranking I would put Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings as a 9.5/10 when compared to the rest of the marvel universe and I would definitely put it in my top five favorite MCU titles overall even outranking Marvel Studios Black Widow. Try to see this one at the theater as the small screen couldn’t do it justice and I may even see you there because there’s no way I’m not seeing this again!
Is this movie OK for little kids?
I thought the action and story were awesome. My dad thinks that due to some of the imagery the movie is best for kids 7 and older.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings opens in theaters on September 3.
