Believe it or not, there are still things I haven’t experienced at the Disneyland Resort, and until recently, Mickey’s Fun Wheel was on that list. I’m not a big Ferris Wheel fan and lived in fear of the idea of my kids getting to the top of the attraction and then freaking out as it made it’s way back down. Ok. Maybe the fear was 90% me disguised as my worry about my kids.
At any rate, my husband and I recently spent a day at the Disneyland Resort sans kids for my birthday and decided it was time to give Mickey’s Fun Wheel a try. Guess what? I loved it and I think my kids would too.

As you may or may not know, there are two queues for Mickey’s Fun Wheel: one queue (to the left) for the standard ride buckets and one (to the right) to ride buckets that slide around while the attraction is in motion. Clearly as a first timer, the non-sliding buckets were my speed, especially given I don’t do well on roller coasters or anything even remotely similar. (Radiator Springs Racers even makes me a little uneasy.)
We had so much fun on Mickey’s Fun Wheel. The ride was smooth and relaxing. And the view…oh the view! You can’t beat the view of Disney California Adventure as the ride makes its rounds. And now that I’ve been on it, I’m pretty sure my kids won’t “freak out” on it; in fact, I think it would be a great attraction for kids of all ages!

Good call on not doing the moving gondolas, they are terrifying!

I recently tried this ride for the first time as well. The husband talked me into riding in one of the swinging buckets and man oh man! The views were beautiful, but I couldn’t focus on them because I spent the whole ride in fear for my life! I’m glad I tried it, but it might end up being a one time ride for me.
