Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! is a family favorite and a must for families with young children. Located in Hollywood Pictures Backlot, this attraction is a dark ride much like Peter Pan or Snow White in Fantasyland. Take a ride in a taxicab headed for the Monster City where a human child has been discovered in Monstropolis for the first time in monster history. Each row in the taxi seats a small party of three.
The attraction allows guests to step into scenes from Disney-Pixar’s hit movie, Monsters, Inc. as the breaking news of the child on the loose unfolds and Monstrolpolis is turned upside-down. There is so much Disney magic in this attraction making it one of my favorite attractions in either park. For example, as you enter Harry Hausen’s restaurant, be sure to take a deep breath! It’s almost as if you can smell the ginger from the kitchen. Or the lemon from the snow cones the Abominable Snowman offers you.
Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is a ride you’ll want to experience more than once. The fun is all in the details. Ride once to enjoy the ride, then ride again and again, taking the time to soak it all in. Read the safety bulletins decorating the company’s billboards and Roz’s final inspection is truly a treat.
Hidden Mickeys: There are three that I’ve seen. The first is right as guests sit down. Mickey’s head is silhouetted against the dusky sky in the Monstropolis skyline. The second is in the changing patterns of Randall as Boo is teaching him a lesson, and the third is on the back of Sulley’s flank as he and Mike are sending Boo home. You’ll have to turn your head to see it.
You’ll have to look backwards to see this one. |
Special Needs: Show your Guest Assistance Card to a Cast Member at the start of the attraction. They’ll direct you to the exit of the attraction. Once in the exit, turn to your right and another Cast Member will direct you to your taxi.
