If you’re looking for soups, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods during your visit to the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, La Brea Bakery is an excellent choice with plenty of seating options and menu items – including breakfast! The restaurant & café is situated at the far end of the Downtown Disney District adjacent to the security line that leads to the Disneyland Parks.
La Brea Bakery recently underwent a renovation and reopened on June 1, 2012, with two sides: a full-service café known as the “La Brea Bakery Café ” and a quick-service café known as the “La Brea Express Café.” I have only gotten an opportunity to experience the Express Café side of La Brea Bakery.
Since the remodel, there are very large outdoor seating patio areas that provide ample seating for even large parties. Upon entering the Express Café, there is an open kitchen with a large bread oven in the center. You walk up to the counter, place your order and seat yourself after you receive a number.
Most recently, I ordered the vegetable lasagna, which is described as “fresh pasta with seasonal vegetables in tomato sauce with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.” The service was quick and the lasagna was a nice filling meal before hitting the parks. I would definitely recommend sitting outside on the patio. If you don’t have time for a full meal, grab coffee and a pastry from the Express menu. There is also a coffee cart located outside of the Express café, a great place to stop by to grab drinks for the family before headed into, or leaving from, the Disneyland Resort.
Enjoy!
