Yum! A family birthday celebration in Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel. |
Having a child with a food allergy means a lifetime of worry for parents. As the mother of a child with a peanut allergy, I live in constant worry of what my son may be offered at a friend’s house or what may lurk in his food while we are dining out.
Should you have questions about food allergies and cross-contamination, the Disneyland Resort Dining Line is there to put your worries to rest. Simply call (714) 781-DINE and the Cast Member on the other end will be able to discuss possible allergens in the park, as well as any special meal accommodations your family may need while visiting the resort, including gluten free/casein free (GFCF) meals. In the case that you don’t have a chance to make a request or contact the dining line before your visit, a list of gluten free/casein free (GFCF) meals and ingredients for food at all of the dining locations are available at City Hall at Disneyland and Guest Relations at Disney California Adventure Park.
The Disneyland Resort accommodates food allergies like no where else and it is typically not necessary to make any sort of arrangements for special food prior to your visit. If the allergies are simple, the waiter or cashier may be able to assist you; however, if a member of your family has complex (multiple) allergies, it is best to ask to speak to the chef at the restaurant or food establishment upon ordering your food. Chefs will go above and beyond to accommodate and prepare food for the most severe and complex allergies. The chef will write down all the allergies and ensure the food is prepared in a safe manner without concern for cross contamination—even if that means completely cleaning a particular cooking surface or using a product not normally prepared. (They even have tapioca hot dog buns that are gluten-, wheat,- dairy-, and egg-free available upon request!) As with any allergy, it is recommended to check with the staff each time you eat somewhere since product ingredients may change over time.
Everyone I know who has a child with food allergies, including my family, has been very, very happy with how Disneyland handles food allergies. They really do go above and beyond.
This information is taken from my book and is just one of the many, many insider tips and information I provide in Babes In Disneyland: The ultimate Disneyland Resort guide for families with young children. The book is available on Amazon.com and Lulu.com.

I completely agree! One of our sons is allergic to tree nuts, and at every restaurant the chef came out and spoke with us. At the buffets, they gave my son and me a guided tour. Once again, Disney goes above and beyond!
