The Disneyland Paris Resort has many different experiences for all ages, so there is no shortage of entertainment when you’re visiting the Disneyland Park or Walt Disney Studios.
This post is dedicated to pointing out some really great experiences to check out when visiting either park, whether you have young children, you’re a thrill seeker, or you’re visiting the Parks with your special someone. Here’s a round-up!
For Young Children
At the Disneyland Park, there are many familiar attractions at Disneyland Paris that are great for young children: It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant (as seen above!)
The Paris park also features Alice’s Curious Labyrinth, a walk-through “maze” that takes families through twists and turns as you try to avoid The Queen of Hearts, who will yell “Off with their heads!” as you pass. Children will have fun making their way through the labyrinth and will be rewarded with great views of the park from the top of the Queen’s castle at the end.

Older children who aren’t easily scared can also visit ‘La Taniere du Dragon’ – the dragon’s lair below Sleeping Beauty Castle that features a sleeping dragon (you can see his chest rise and fall) who awakes to breathe fire at those disturbing his sleep!
Don’t wake the dragon… |
Over at the Walt Disney Studios, Toy Story Play Land is the perfect place for young children to explore the world of toys – there’s even a thrilling ride for the older kids featuring Andy’s toy car, RC Racer!

Adventurous little ones that need to expel some energy can get in touch with their inner pirate at Pirates’ Beach or on Captain Hook’s Pirate Ship – complete with Skull Rock!
For Thrill Seekers
You get launched like a rocket on the right! |
Many of the attractions we are familiar with at The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim or at Walt Disney World don’t have the same thrill factor as their counterparts in Paris. Take Space Mountain: Mission 2 for instance – a roller-coaster that takes thrills to the next level by launching passengers into a dark thrill ride, complete with upside-down loops! This is definitely not for the faint of heart.
“Crush’s Coaster” at the Walt Disney Studios is a rip-roaring, fun ride that simulates traveling through the East Australian Current (EAC) on a turtle shell. Expect some spins, twists, and turns – don’t eat lunch before you head on this ride!

Other rides that could get your heart racing include Aerosmith’s Rock n’ Rollercoaster (a duplicate of the Walt Disney World version), Indiana Jones & The Temple of Peril – an outdoor roller-coaster, and Big Thunder Mountain – a much longer and more thrilling version of the ride than Anaheim provides.

Thrill seekers can also find a scare at Paris’s answer to our Haunted Mansion – you won’t find “happy haunts” in Phantom Manor. Instead, this attraction features much scarier scenes for younger children involving the story of a bride who waited for her groom in vain – it even got a few yelps out of me!
Spooky, isn’t it? |
For Couples
If you’re traveling with the Disneyland Paris Resort as a couple, you can take advantage of any of the attractions for both young and old alike – and you can experience some favorite rides in a different light!
Pirates of the Caribbean is a favorite but done in reverse – featuring the pirate town scenes first and the dark cavern scenes at the end.
For me, my fiance and I enjoy visiting all of the lands to pay close attention to the theming of the parks, search for hidden Mickeys, or enjoy a snack while watching the hustle and bustle of the crowd – there’s so much to do and see that there is no shortage of entertainment if you are a couple in Disneyland. Some of our favorites were the bronze plaques in front of the parks featuring the distance between DLP and DLR Anaheim!
Be sure to find a great viewing spot and snuggle up for the nighttime spectacular show, Disney Dreams!

Also, take advantage of the many romantic dining options available to you – including the Blue Lagoon, Paris’s version of The Blue Bayou Restaurant or Walt’s: An American Restaurant (more to be featured in next week’s Dining at Disneyland Paris post!)
