August 31 marks 80 years of Super Heroes and the Disneyland Resort has some fun festivities planned to commemorate this milestone in hero history! Like the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary, this celebration will roll out specialty foods, merchandise, as well as events and entertainment to enhance the existing super hero offerings that you are already familiar with at the Parks. Do you have kids that absolutely love Super Heroes? Avengers Assemble for this fun and festive event!
Guardians of the Galaxy Extra Hour for APs!
If you’re an Annual Passholder, between August 25 – August 31, take advantage of an extra hour at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Plus, APs can take home a special lithograph (one per passholder while supplies last. Blockout dates apply.) Just show your pass between 9p and 10p to get access during the dates above!
Specialty Foods
Between August 23 through September 2, head over to Studio Catering Co. and get your hands on the Fanta Orange Freeze with Blue Cream. Or sip on the Be Brave, Be Blue cocktail, with Vodka* and Blue Raspberry Lemonade at Hollywood Lounge. While you’re at it, pick up fresh-baked sourdough Groot-shaped bread!
Over at Award Wieners, indulge in Super Hero-inspired, cinnamon-sugar dusted Funnel Cake Fries with Maple Glaze, Crumbled Bacon and Chocolate Cookie Crumbles. You can sign us up for any of these delectable treats!
Super Hero Merchandise
How should Disney California Adventure celebrate 80 years of Super Heroes? With merchandise, of course! Starting this week, commemorative tees, merchandise, and other super hero-themed merchandise are now available for purchase over at The Collector’s Warehouse (the retail shopped attached to Guardians of the Galaxy: MISSION BREAKOUT!).

There are plenty of opportunities to get photos with your favorite superheroes, from Spiderman to Captain America. Also new for this celebration, Mickey and his pals are cosplaying as their favorite Super Heroes as well – which could be a really fun, limited time photo opportunity with the characters!
Or, step (quite literally) into an “Avengers Assemble!” comic book – an oversized photo backdrop where you’ll be one of the Super Heroes! This photo location will be available between now through Sept. 2.
Unleash your inner comic book artist!
Receive step-by-step instructions from a Disney artist on how to draw Super Heroes – these classes take place at the Animation Academy during select times on these dates: Aug. 17, 24, 30, 31 and Sept. 1. These make a great souvenir to take home!
Guests visiting visiting Disney California Adventure park for the actual 80th anniversary will be treated to a commemorative button upon entry into the theme park, while supplies last.
