It’s no secret that over the last five years, major changes have been taking place at the Disneyland Resort with the bulk of them being at Disney California Adventure. When the park first premiered in 2001, it opened to lackluster reviews and simply did not harness that magic that Disney Parks lovers have grown to appreciate and expect. Disney executives and imagineers quickly realized that what Disney California Adventure Park was missing was the very root of what makes Disney Parks successful: Disney storytelling.
In a recent media event, Tom Staggs, chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts stated, “When Disney is at its best, we immerse our guests into stories, the characters, the music that people around the world love and that is what we really looked to do here in the transformation of Disney California Adventure…to infuse the park with more Disney storytelling, with more Disney characters, [and] give our guests the ability to interact and imagine themselves as a part of those worlds. In short, to put a lot more Disney DNA into Disney California Adventure.”
As part of this new DCA Fast Facts series, I’ll be presenting details, trivia and fun facts about the changes at Disney California Adventure leading up to the big premiere of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land on June 15. Stay tuned for more!
