Cars Land – A Revved Up Dining Experience

A girl can have many passions, right? Yes? Great! Well, aside from photography, my passion is food! Reading about it, making it and especially eating it! I recently had the distinct honor of attending a preview of the new Cars Land, opening June 15^th at Disney California Adventure park. Out of all of the incredible new experiences ahead, I am most excited about the food I sampled. Let me tell you, folks, the culinary delights on this road trip are definitely worth stopping for!

It all starts back when John Lassater was on a trip with his family along the famed Route 66 in 2000. His observations and experiences are what helped create the beloved Disney Pixar film, Cars. In bringing the movie to life, in a brand new land, he definitely wanted to honor the delicious food and nostalgia that made this trip unforgettable. It was then his mission to immerse guests in this experience.

I had the opportunity to sample some of the most delicious comfort food I have ever tasted. Your first stop should be at Flo’s V8 Café. You can fill your tank in the morning with breakfast items like chicken tamales with scrambled eggs, fresh fruit or brioche French toast served with salted caramel and bananas. YUMM!!

For lunch and dinner, you must try the citrus rotisserie turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy, and pork loin in Coke™ BBQ sauce, served with slaw. Pair this with a classic milkshake and you’re ready to hit the road! There are even vegetarian options like the savory Veggie Tater Bake. Your trip to Flo’s V8 Café will not be complete without one of Flo’s famous Homely Pies. Don’t judge these little pies just by their looks. Inside that “ugly” little crust are decadent filling combinations that will have you throwing it in reverse and coming back for more. Some that I sampled are Blueberry Pear, Strawberry Rhubarb, Chocolate Mud Pie, but my absolute favorite was the Apple Cheddar.

Flo’s Homely Pies

If you are looking to grab a quick snack, then pull on into the Cozy Cone Motel. The menu features the most decadent food served in soft pretzel cones. Think delicious chili, topped with cheese and Fritos, all wrapped in that fun cone. Oh my word, amazing! Other items on the menu are pretzel balls and flavored popcorn. Let’s just say, the pickle-flavored popcorn might make you do wheelies. The Cozy Cone Motel will also carry frozen drinks to quench your thirst as well as high-octane (alcoholic versions.)

I am so looking forward to taking my family back to try these wonderfully inspired dishes and I look forward to hearing what some of your favorites are once Cars Land is open! Only 21 more days!
