One of the Tributes to the past atBig Thunder Mountain Railroad “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world,” Walt Disney proclaimed. And true to that word, many new attractions have come to Disneyland since 1955. Of course, because of the reality of space limits, this often means that one attraction has to close so another one can take its place. One of the hallmarks of Disney Imagineers, though, is that gone doesn’t have to mean forgotten.Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is one of the prime examples of a new attraction paying homage...

Framed Cars Art I love Disney touches around the home, to remind you in your everyday life of your “second home” at Disneyland or Disney World. However, I’m personally not a fan of emblazoning everything with Mickey or Winnie or what-have you. My kids rooms have Disney themes, but they are more subtle and I think more unique! Liam’s “cool, new” bedroom, even if it’s been this way for a year 🙂 My son’s favorite toys forever-and-always have been toy cars, and so of course he became a total fan of Cars the movie! It all began with this...
Disney at Home: Arrrrgh! It’s a Pirate Birthday Party!

Mason’s custom t-shirt was created by theseller SewingByGrace on Etsy. Last month we celebrated my son, Mason’s, second birthday with a pirate-themed party (read my planning post here) inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland Park and my little guy’s love of “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” on Disney Junior. I had a lot of fun finding ways to incorporate the nautical pirate theme into the party food and décor. Cheese balls became “cannon balls,” Hot Tamale candies were “lobsters,” Swedish Fish gummies were “shark bait,” and we had “Yo Ho Yogurt Pretzels.” All of...
I have a confession to make. Before meeting my husband, I had never watched a Star Wars movie. Ever. It wasn’t because my parents didn’t love the movies when they came out. Let’s just say I’m more of a princesses and fairy tales kind of gal. I lived for the Disney princesses as a child, so the idea of a space story just didn’t appeal to me. Flash forward to my life now as a mother of three boys. It’s safe to say that we have virtually every Star Wars toy given the fact that my boys not only...

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has always been one of my favorite movies. When it was announced that not one but two Snow White-based movies would be released in 2012, I was skeptical. How could a film hold up to the Walt Disney classic?Snow White and the Huntsman was released into theaters on June 1, 2012, and will be out on DVD next Tuesday, September 11. The film, starring Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Stewart, Sam Claflin, Ian McShane and Bob Hoskins takes viewers on an exciting adventure filled with magic, suspense, incredible action and spellbinding special effect. The...

Character Dining Review- “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park”
September 6, 2012 in All Posts, character dining, characters, dining, disneyland, main street
Since being introduced to “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park” nearly five years ago- I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy this character dining option on numerous occasions. Located at the end of Main Street, just before the entrance to Tomorrowland, the Plaza Inn is the only restaurant inside the gates of Disneyland that offers character dining (although guests can often meet characters back at Big Thunder BBQ). If you’re looking to start your morning off with a tasty meal, while spending time with some of your favorite Disney characters, “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park”...
The New Carnation Cafe: The perfect restaurant for family time
in All Posts, dining, main street, restaurant tips, Tips & Tricks for Families
I have to come clean about something. Before last week, it had been at least 15 years since I had eaten at the Carnation restaurant on Main Street. This last week, after experiencing Pirates League with my sons, my husband and I wanted a sit-down, table-service meal but Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans just weren’t calling to us. I remembered that Carnation Cafe recently reopened and we headed to Main Street to grab an early dinner. Carnation Cafe is our family’s new go-to restaurant. It’s comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and fast service are top notch. The food is fantastic....
Video from the Disney Parks Blog. The Voices of Liberty has been entertaining audiences in the Main Street Opera House since June 15 of this year. The group was scheduled to continue their performances inside the Disneyland Opera House where they perform before showings of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln through September 16. If you haven’t seen the Voices of Liberty, it is an a capella group who have famously entertained guests in Walt Disney World for years and only made their West Coast debut this summer. This talented ensemble entertains the audience with classic songs of Americana…songs you probably grew...
