Each year, the spirit of Halloween Time invades Disneyland with more pumpkins and festive autumn décor than you can shake a candy corn at. Main Street and Big Thunder Ranch are transformed into virtual pumpkin festivals, and the Haunted Mansion is transformed in the Haunted Mansion Holiday—with whimsical and colorful recreations of the scenes and images popular from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. Dave Caranci is the decorating guru behind many of the decorations found at the Disneyland Resort. Year round, he works with his creative team to create fun and festive décor that leaves us wondering, “How did...

Haunted Mansion Holiday exterior. One of the biggest draws to the Disneyland Resort this time of year is Haunted Mansion Holiday. In mid September each year, the Haunted Mansion goes through a big transformation when the residents of Halloween Town take up residence and the magic and whimsy of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas comes to life (or death…) in New Orleans Square. Haunted Mansion Holiday interior. The bright colors and highly-stylized decor of the Nightmare Before Christmas takes over every aspect and angle of the attraction from the inside out. We’ve all heard the statistics: the prevalence of obesity amongst adults in the United States has risen dramatically in the past 5 years to nearly 34% of the population. But at a recent orthopedics symposium I was staggered to find that not only has the obesity rate in 6-19 year olds tripled in that same time period, but there is a staggering increase in the amount of joint disease- once reserved for the aged- in these children! So, in addition to skyrocketing rates of asthma, diabetes and heart disease, children are now at risk for osteoarthritis, fractures and other...

I’ve mentioned the windows on Main Street U.S.A. before, and in that post I hinted at the location of Walt Disney’s window. His window is not on Main Street, but back near the home of his friend, Mickey Mouse.Yes, more than just Main Street has special windows. One of those other places is Mickey’s Toontown. Just like the ones at the front of the park, these windows pay tribute to some rather special people…or in this case, special characters. You see, aside from Walt himself, the other windows pay tribute to animated characters, “toons”. Pictured at left is one of...
This weekend, thousands of CHOC — Children’s Hospital of Orange County — supporters will walk through Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Park to show their appreciation to the doctors and nurses that have helped many sick kids. The CHOC Walk allows walkers to see the Disneyland Resort in a way that they may not have ever seen it, including favorite characters (in their own walking gear) along the route to cheer on and take pictures with participants. Though this exciting opportunity is a great way to celebrate and experience one’s love for the Disneyland Resort, the CHOC Walk is...
The goats at Big Thunder Ranch’s petting area are getting into the Halloween spirit.
