What you need to know about Disney Infinity!

February 18, 2013 in All Posts, disney video games and online
In June, Disney Interactive will be launching into the marketplace an incredible new gaming experience that your kids (and maybe even the adults in your home) will be begging you for. Get ready to open your wallets, because Disney Infinity is going to be super hot and your family is going to want it…all of it…I recently attended the launch for this incredible new gaming experience, and while I am not a gaming expert, I know what my kiddos like and I’ll give you my assessment of what I think about Disney Infinity.Essentially, Disney Infinity brings together several different gaming experiences...

Review of “It’s a Small World” Book Series” & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

February 14, 2013 in All Posts, babies & toddlers, giveaways, Jessica, product review
CONGRATS, TO GIVEAWAY WINNER, JEN TUCKER! The “it’s a small world” attraction at Disney theme parks is well known to be a favorite of children worldwide, fittingly so! Mary Blair, who contributed to designing the ride, as well as many other Disney films and works of art, was able to capture the carefree and fanciful spirit of children in different lands in a captivating way. Her style and art are now timeless classics. Disney has taken the theme and unique design of the “it’s a small world” attraction and created a series of children’s books that follow that same genre...

Happy Valentine’s Day!

in All Posts, disneyland, video
Things have been quiet here on Babes In Disneyland this week because I’ve been swamped at work. I’m wishing I could play hooky and be at Disneyland today with my boys, but alas, there is more work to be done. A couple of years ago I did spend Valentine’s Day at Disneyland with my boys and here’s a little slide show I made back then to commemorate the day.I hope that you and yours share a day of love and happiness.

Help us be better! Take the reader survey.

February 11, 2013 in All Posts, babes in disneyland
Babes In Disneyland has been existence for more than five years there and in that time, it has seen a lot of changes and growth. A very important part of the growth and change has come out of my reader surveys. The reader surveys provide two key items: The survey gives us a snapshot of who our readers are. By knowing who our readers are, we are better able to write stories that will be interesting and work with Disney and other companies to bring readers that is relevant and interesting. The feedback we get from our annual survey...

Mickey and the Magical Map Coming This Summer to Disneyland + special interview with the show’s creator

February 8, 2013 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, entertainment, entertainment tips, holidays, summer
This summer a new show will be premiering at the Fantasyland Theatre. That’s, right! With the new princess meet and greet area in the Fantasy Faire, the Fantasyland Theatre will once again be home to a stage production!  “Mickey and the Magical Map” will feature Mickey in his role as the sorcerer’s apprentice and have a cast of many Disney favorites including Pocahontas, Mulan, King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog” and others. While I could write about each detail of the show here, I’m thinking that it is more powerful to hear about...

Disney at Home: Mickey Mouse Birthday Party

February 7, 2013 in All Posts, birthday parties, disney at home, Jessica
Birthday boy pics –such an easy and inexpensive decoration. My son, Liam, turned 4 years old last month and a Mickey Mouse Birthday Party was decided upon (before he gets old enough to realize he can choose his own party themes!). I didn’t have all the help planning this party that I did last time, plus I was hoping to keep this party a little less expensive and intensive. Pinterest played a huge part in helping me plan this party in a very short amount of time. Here is a round-up of some cute and fun Mickey (or easily...

Revealed! Here is your guide to knowing whether the Disneyland Resort will be crowded!

February 6, 2013 in All Posts, attendance trends, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, summer, Tips & Tricks for Families, Travel Tips, vacation planning
One of the most frequent questions we get at Babes In Disneyland revolve around attendance levels and attendance trends. As I’ve mentioned in the past, the parks are always going to be crowded: During holiday weekends. The week of Thanksgiving. During the peak summer months. Weekends. Spring Break. The last two weeks of December. (These are the two most crowded weeks of the year.) When a special event is planned. What is important to remember that higher attendance isn’t always a bad thing. Take right now at the Disneyland Resort for example: It’s winter time and the attendance is...

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Town Square in Bloom in February

in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, main street, photography
Even though it’s chilly outside, Disneyland’s Town Square is in full bloom! Babes In Disneyland contributor Kendra took these beautiful shots last week, and I think you’ll agree that the lovely orange poppies and Johnny jump ups are enough to warm up any cold day, no matter where you are.

Princess Fantasy Faire- A Preview

February 4, 2013 in characters, disneyland, disneyland resort, fantasyland
Photo Courtesy of The Disneyland Resort Last week Lisa and I donned bright orange construction vests, hard hats, and safety goggles for a media tour of the new Princess Fantasy Faire at Disneyland.  We learned that the Fantasy Faire will feature new food items, a new princess store, two princess stage shows, as well as a Royal Hall where the princesses will be on hand for meet-and-greets.  While the attraction is still very much under construction, Disney Imagineers Michel Den Dulk and Christopher Utley were on hand to speak to us about the special design elements, new shows, and...

in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, fun facts, tips for guests with special needs
Dear Me on August 20, 1993: That’s me after passing my spiel test – my first day in plaid onAugust 20, 1993. At that time, tour guides had to weartheir own clothes to work each day while answering theDisneyland information line until they memorized the Welcome to Disneyland tour spiel–which was more than 15 pages long. Congratulations on your new job at as a Disneyland Tour Guide! I couldn’t be more proud of you; you set the goal of getting the job back when you were a freshman in high school and now, just two months after graduation you...
