Disney Apps – Review

February 28, 2013 in All Posts, Jessica, product review
Technology in all it’s forms is increasingly becoming a very important and viable component in the education of children of all ages. Tablet or phone Apps are a large part of this. As a public elementary school teacher, I have seen my job become more and more focused on how I can integrate the newest forms of technology into the classroom to increase student interest and learning. My school is lucky enough to have a set of iPads per grade level that we rotate through each classroom everyday. I can tell you from first-hand experience, that when used the...

Spring 2013 Dapper Day

in All Posts, dapper day, disneyland
If you are looking for information on the Spring 2014 Dapper Day, click here. On Sunday, the boys and I attended the third annual Dapper Day at the Disneyland Resort. According to LA Weekly, approximately 15,000 dapper guests turned out for this year’s event and I am here to tell you that it was perhaps one of the most fun days I have ever spent at Disneyland. What is Dapper Day?According to the Dapper Day website, Dapper Day is “inspired by the original Disney park designer’s illustrations, which often featured extremely well dressed guests enjoying the park,  (and) Dapper Day...

Planning Disney-inspired birthday parties just got easier

in All Posts, birthday parties, disney at home
Although paper party invitations can be beautiful and a lot of fun, I must admit that as time becomes more and more limited in life, I use Evites. One of the primary reasons why I haven’t used them as much as I would like in the past is because they didn’t have any Disney Evites for my Disney-themed parties.  Well…not any more! On February 20, Evite and Spoonful launched a new Disney line of electronic invitations for kids’ parties of all ages. Designs featured in the Evite Disney Collectioninclude Disney Princess, Fairies, Cars, Toy Story, Phineas and Ferb, Alice...

A Sunday Drive on Disneyland’s Autopia + special info & tips!

February 25, 2013 in All Posts, attraction tips, attraction wait times, attractions, autopia, disneyland, disneyland resort, fastpass, Tips & Tricks for Families, tomorrowland
For those of us who can’t be at Disneyland today, I thought we could take a Sunday drive together on the Autopia. Autopia has been a favorite attraction for guests of all ages since it opened on Disneyland’s opening day July 17, 1955. In fact, it has been such a popular attraction, there was once an Autopia attraction in both Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Although today there’s only one Autopia, guests can utilize FASTPASS for this attraction. Kids, in particular, get a real kick out of this attraction because they can drive the car themselves! Children must be 32″ or...

The Top 5 Reasons to Stay at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel

February 22, 2013 in All Posts, character dining, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, hotel review, paradise pier hotel
Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels. When planning a Disneyland Resort vacation, people often tell me that they’d love to stay “on-property” while visiting the theme parks, but their budget doesn’t allow for a stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa. While I love the Grand Californian and stay there often thanks to my Disney Vacation Club membership, there’s much to be said about the other hotels of the Disneyland Resort, particularly Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, which boasts all the benefits of staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel but has the lowest price tag....

Spring/Summer Movie Line-Up

in All Posts, Jessica, product review
As usual, Disney has several amazing moves lined-up for us to enjoy this coming spring and summer! Here is a brief run-down of what we have to look forward to: Oz The Great and Powerful “Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora,...

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Personalized Disney Themed T-Shirts

February 20, 2013 in All Posts, characters, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, girls, Tips & Tricks for Families, vacation planning
I am a huge fan of all things personalized.  Whether it’s an Ear Hat, t-shirt, or jewelry wearing something that has been created especially for a specific occasion, holiday, or group trip adds an extra bit of magic and also makes for a great souvenir. While planning my most recent trip to the Disneyland Resort, affectionately referred to as “Girls Trip 2013,” I decided that I wanted to make personalized t-shirts for my cousins and our daughters.  No family resemblance- right??  🙂 I love making personalized t-shirts for several reasons.  First and foremost is that I think they look...

Big Changes Coming to Disney Junior – Live On Stage!

in All Posts, disney california adventure, disney junior, entertainment
Disney Junior’s Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins will soon be added to Disney California Adventure’s “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!”  Doc and Sofia will be joining the gang from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Jake and the Never Land Pirates” in a show that invites preschoolers to sing, dance and play with enchanting puppets, fanciful scenery and lively music. Yes, that does mean we’ll be saying good-bye to the Little Einsteins and Handy Manny. I’ve never been a fan of the Little Einsteins act of the show, but I am pretty disappointed to find out Manny and the gang will...
