The Market House to be revamped to sell Starbucks coffee products
April 8, 2013 in All Posts, dining, main street
Have you heard the news about the Market House? When it closes for its refurbishment this year it will be retrofitted to serve Starbucks coffee products. Since the Market House opened, the wonderful thing about a cup of Joe was that you could get free refills throughout the day if you kept your receipt. While Starbucks has not announced whether it will honor this tradition, my guess is that it will not.Do you think that the current size of the Market House will be able to handle Disneyland Resort guests’ appetite for Starbucks coffee? What do you think of...

My first time on Mickey’s Fun Wheel
April 5, 2013 in All Posts, attraction tips, attractions, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, Tips & Tricks for Families
Believe it or not, there are still things I haven’t experienced at the Disneyland Resort, and until recently, Mickey’s Fun Wheel was on that list. I’m not a big Ferris Wheel fan and lived in fear of the idea of my kids getting to the top of the attraction and then freaking out as it made it’s way back down. Ok. Maybe the fear was 90% me disguised as my worry about my kids.At any rate, my husband and I recently spent a day at the Disneyland Resort sans kids for my birthday and decided it was time to...

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday: Disneyland’s Omni Bus + plus a tip for Disney fans and families
April 3, 2013 in All Posts, attraction tips, attractions, disneyland resort, main street, photography, Tips & Tricks for Families
Until about a year and a half ago, I had never been on the Omni Bus. Ever. When my middle son asked to ride it while we were enjoying a mommy-son date, I took my maiden voyage down Main Street and was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was. The view from the Omni Bus. The Omni Bus takes guests on a one-way trip from Town Square down Main Street to right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and does a trip back from the Castle to Town Square. Along the way, the bus driver gives a mini...
Terrific Tip Tuesday: Inexpensive snack and breakfast ideas while staying in a hotel or motel.
in All Posts, dining, restaurant tips, saving money, Tips & Tricks for Families, Travel Tips, what to pack
Vacations, whether they are to Disneyland or another favorite spot, are expensive. Hotels and motels aren’t cheap and when you add in all of the other expenses of travel, vacations can put a strain on the old pocket book. In order to make vacations a little easier to afford, we try to bring food with us to enjoy in the hotel room, especially breakfast items and snacks. When it comes to the food in the room, we try to keep it simple. While many, perhaps even most, rooms in the Disneyland Resort area come with a small refrigerator, we try...

Yesterday, Disney announced on the Disney Parks Blog that a new exhibit, Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries, will open at Innoventions (in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland) on April 13. According to the blog guests will be able to see Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor, which will include Iron Man’s Mark I-VII suites featured in Iron Man 3! Guests will even be able to suit up virtually and see what it’s like to operate Iron Man’s armor, something my three sons are certain to go crazy for. There are many unique architectural styles in Disneyland, but perhaps one that stands out the most is the building housing Innoventions. After all, how many other places can you find a building that rotates? You may have visited Innoventions to learn about technology, play games, or even get in out of the sun or rain, but how much do you know about what was there before? This particular location has an interesting history. During Disneyland’s first summer, in 1955, a restaurant called the Space Bar opened at the eastern edge of Tomorrowland. The Space Bar took up a huge area...
