Fun Fact Friday: Mickey and the Magical Map (video, pics and facts)
May 3, 2013 in All Posts, disneyland, entertainment, mickey and the magical map
Last week I was fortunate enough to be invited to see a special sneak peek of Mickey and the Magical Map, the new show that will premiere at the Fantasyland Theatre on May 25. The all-new stage spectacular follows the sorcerer’s apprentice Mickey Mouse and a variety of other Disney characters as they embark on a series of musical adventures through the magical powers of a sorcerer’s map. Wise sorcerer Yen Sid directs his Mapmakers, a singing-dancing ensemble cast that paints a wondrous map – capable of taking dreamers to any place imaginable and so large it spans the...
Singe Rider Lines at the Disneyland Resort
May 2, 2013 in All Posts, attraction tips, attraction wait times, disney california adventure, disneyland, Tips & Tricks for Families
Most of my readers are probably never at Disneyland ALONE, but it sure sounds kind of nice. In the case that you ever have such a blessed opportunity, I thought I’d provide a list of singer-rider lines throughout the resort.Single rider lines are queues in which single riders are quickly loaded onto attractions in order to completely fill each boat, car, etc. and thus accommodate more guests per hour. This is a great option if you are with family or friends and one or two people really want to go on an attraction that no one else is interested...
Terrific Tip Tuesday: Disney Dollars at the Disneyland Resort
April 30, 2013 in All Posts, disney dollars, Tips & Tricks for Families
Don’t get stuck paying ATM fees while at the Disneyland Resort. If you need to get cash to spend at Disneyland for popcorn, balloons, etc., simply stop by City Hall (located on the west side of Main Street) or the Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure (on the east side of Buena Vista Street near Oswald’s) to purchase Disney Dollars with a credit card or check card. Disney Dollars are bills that come in ones, fives, and tens and can be used as cash (the same dollar for dollar exchange) at the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World....
Merchandise Monday: Custom Droids at Star Trader’s Droid Factory
April 29, 2013 in All Posts, merchandise, shopping tips, star wars, tomorrowland
Every once in a while, Disney Parks comes out with a new product that makes nerds like me weak in the knees and the new Droid Factory in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland does just that. Located in Tomorrowland, the Droid Factory allows guests to make their own droid action figures using Star Wars and Disney-inspired parts. A single droid costs $12.95 and a two-pack of droids costs $19.95. Guests select a torso, arms, legs, dome (head) and Disney hat for each of their droids. We are saving a trip to the Droid Factory for a special occasion and I know my...
Fun Fact Friday: Top 5 Facts About the Disneyland Railroad
April 26, 2013 in All Posts, attraction tips, disneyland, fun facts, Randy, Tips & Tricks for Families, Top 5
Many would consider the Disneyland Railroad to be the one that most represents Walt Disney. (Personally, I think Storybook Land Canal Boats fits that bill, but there’s room for a variety of opinions.) Still, the railroad was very important to Walt, so it seems fitting to pay tribute with this post. I already wrote about the locomotives, but here are some fun facts about the attraction as a whole. 1. A railroad of some kind was always going to be part of Disneyland. From as far back as the plan for a “Mickey Mouse Park” across the street from...

Disney at Home: Disneyland’s Banana Nut Muffin Recipe
April 25, 2013 in All Posts, disney at home, disneyland, Jessica, recipes
I felt it was time to try another Disneyland recipe – every single one has been a keeper so far, so I had high hopes! This time I went with a baked good that nobody in my family has tried in the parks, the Banana Nut Muffin. You can buy the Banana Nut Loaf at the new Jolly Holiday Bakery. I’m guessin’ this is the same thing, just not in muffin form like it was at the Blue Ribbon Bakery. I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for the perfect banana bread recipe to use up...
