Fun Fact Friday: Transitions Plaza
September 27, 2013 in All Posts, disneyland, fun facts, Randy, Tips & Tricks for Families, walt disney
Just outside of the entrance to the Haunted Mansion stands a fountain, in an area surrounded by benches and trees. I’m sure there is an official name for this area, but honestly I have no idea what it is (if any of you readers know, please tell me in the comments at the end of this post). Unofficially, it’s called “Transitions Plaza”, and the fountain called “Transitions Fountain”. The reason for this somewhat unusual name is actually quite simple. As Disneyland existed at the time—and as it continued to be for several years—this area marked a significant transition. Everything...
Disney.com Lanches New Spanish-Language Entertainment Portal
September 25, 2013 in All Posts, disney junior, disney video games and online
One of the characteristics that makes my family unique is how ethnically diverse we are. I’m Japanese and Portuguese, and my husband is Hispanic. We enjoy exposing our son to all of the cultures that make up his blended heritage, whether it’s through food, music, family traditions, holidays or foreign language (my husband’s parents are fluent in both Spanish and English). I was really excited to hear that in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month—which is from September 15 to October 15—Disney Interactive launched the new Disney ¡Ajá! portal, providing direct access to Spanish-language content on Disney.com for the...

September 24, 2013 in All Posts, character dining, dining, disneyland, disneyland resort, Kendra, restaurant tips, Tips & Tricks for Families
I’m a huge fan of dining at the Disneyland Resort, so today’s announcement from the Disney Parks Blog had me jumping for joy! Beginning October 3rd dining reservations can be made online via the Disneyland Resort Dining web page (this post will be updated with the link on October 3rd). Reservations will also continue to be accepted via the Disney Dining hotline at 714-781-DINE. It often happens that during peak season certain restaurants and/or dining times are often booked or have long wait times, causing guests to either select an alternative or wait for avalability, which, if you are traveling with children can be quite a challenge. Enter the...

Finally…it’s here. The Limited Time Magic week my sons have been waiting for: PIRATE WEEK!!! Can you tell I’m a little bit excited? My kids love pirates. Like, really, really love them. Pirates League is back at the Disneyland Park! Last year, my sons experienced the fun of Pirates League when it was offered in New Orleans Square. This year, Pirates League is being offered at the Festival Arena at Big Thunder Ranch. If you have kids who love pirates, this is a must. Two of my boys had makeovers last year and had a blast! And here is a video I made about the overall experience and what...

Where you can find Mickey at the Disneyland Resort + 10 Mickey hugs that will melt your heart
September 18, 2013 in All Posts, character dining, characters
Mickey Mouse is more than an icon, he’s every child’s best friend–even if they’ve never met. While not all kids like to take photos with the characters, for those who do want to say cheese with the Big Cheese, a hug from Mickey can be a really big moment. This week we put out the call for your favorite Mickey pictures on Facebook and Twitter and got some precious photos submitted by Babes In Disneyland readers and contributors. This originally started as a Wordless Wednesday post, and…clearly there’s nothing “wordless” about it! There are a lot of places to find...
