CHOC Walk Reminder!

September 25, 2010 in All Posts, CHOC
The CHOC Walk is around the corner! On October 17, people from throughout southern California will be participating in the CHOC Walk in the park–a 5K walk through Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure to benefit the amazing work done at CHOC (Children’s Hospital of Orange County). CHOC serves thousands of children each year…very, very sick children…even if their parents cannot afford the care the children need. It is comforting to know that CHOC is there for all of us in the event that our children become ill.My three boys and I will be walking at the CHOC Walk, as...

Grand Californian vs. Disneyland Hotel PLUS a video review!

September 23, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland hotel, disneyland resort, grand californian
I’ve gotten lots of questions about the benefits of staying “on property” at the Disneyland Resort.  Staying “on property” allows guests to be close to be close to the parks making naps and more leisurely trips to the park easier.  Disney-owned hotels allow guests to extend the magic and Disney-level of guest service beyond their adventures in the parks.  This summer, I have had the opportunity to stay in two of the three Disney-owned hotel properties at the Disneyland Resort–the Grand Californian and theh Disneyland Hotel. In the early summer, my family and I stayed at the beautiful Grand...

More Info on Mickey’s Halloween Party

September 22, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland, halloween
Back on August 23, I posted about this year’s Halloween private-party celebration, Mickey’s Halloween Party.   Moving to Disneyland this year with a new name, Mickey’s Halloween Party is the separate-ticket event that invites adults and children to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat at the resort. This nighttime celebration is scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays in October (1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 and 29) plus Halloween night itself, Sunday, Oct. 31.  Guests will have the opportunity to arrive three hours before the party starts to play in Disneyland.  Once the party starts, guests will be...

More Pictures of Halloween 2010

in All Posts, character dining, dining, disneyland, halloween
I spent last weekend at the Disneyland Resort.  On Saturday, I was part of a VIP tour of the resort with the other two thirds of the Three Disneyland Moms, Marcy Massura and Suzanne Broughton.  Along with their lovely families, we toured Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.  In the past, I’ve made no secret of the fact that I love Disneyland in the fall.  From the 300 decorated pumpkins on Main Street to the orange, yellow, and rust-colored mums in the flower beds, the park is aglow with the warm colors of autumn.  In my post last week about...

Halloween 2010 At The Disneyland Resort

September 14, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, halloween, holidays, video
The Disneyland Resort will be unveiling all of its Halloween decorations and entertainment on September 17.  I will be attending a special event at the park on the 18th and will have loads of pictures to share with you next week.  In the meantime, I’ve assembled some of the details of this year’s festivities.  First and foremost, the décor during this time of year is outstanding.  Main Street is transformed for the Pumpkin Festival with more than 300 pumpkins creatively carved and on display in shop windows.  Over at Big Thunder Ranch in Frontierland, guests will find ranch animals,...

Terrific Tip Tuesday: Get Disneyland Merchandise Online

August 31, 2010 in All Posts, shopping tips
If you are traveling to Disneyland and want to be ready to go with your Disneyland hats and shirts before your visit or if you forgot to buy a special souvenir, you can find exclusive products from Disneyland at DisneyStore.com.  That’s right.  You can go online and get the Disneyland merchandise you can’t live without.  Why lug home a huge monorail play set or special collectible on the airplane when you can just buy it online when you get home?  Get those coordinated Disneyland t-shirts for the family before you’re visit so you can take a picture in them...

Friday Fun Fact: Hop Aboard History on King Arthur Carrousel

August 27, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, fantasyland, fun facts
Walt Disney was a perfectionist and wanted only the best of the best for Disneyland.   Back in 1955, while building his dream amusement park, Walt Disney spent $22,000 for a derelict merry-go-round in Sunnyside Park in Toronto Canada that became King Arthur Carrousel. Just finding the perfect antique carrousel wasn’t enough from Mr. Disney, he only wanted jumping–not the other animals that were part of the original.  He bought the rest of the horse from other old carrousels, including one at Coney Island.  Most of the horses on the attraction are German-made antiques that date back to the 1800s.  ...

Terrific Tip Tuesday: Disneyland Attendance Trends

August 24, 2010 in All Posts, attendance trends, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, fun facts, Tips & Tricks for Families
It’s no secret that Disneyland is a very busy place. Daily attendance can vary between 15,000 and 75,000 guests per day in one park! There are advantages and disadvantages to crowded and slow days alike.  The general rule of thumb is the shorter the hours, the less crowded the park with be. A day with 10a.m to 8p.m. hours will be a lot less crowded than days with 8a.m. to midnight hours. Days with short hours will have less entertainment, fewer restaurants open, and likely more attractions closed.  Because of this reality, the decision for you to consider with...

Mickey’s Halloween Party Announcement

August 23, 2010 in All Posts, disneyland, disneyland resort, halloween, holidays, vacation planning
It may only be August, but Mickey and his friends at the Disneyland Resort have already been thinking up an exciting new Halloween adventure for families and this year’s Halloween event tops all others from the past.  The resort’s separate ticket, private party event has been renamed “Mickey’s Halloween Party” and will now be held at Disneyland, not Disney’s California Adventure as in the past.  Party guests–young and old–can dress in costume and enjoy Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday. Other highlights include: Image from Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy “Mickey’s Hide and Go Treat Trails” throughout Disneyland...
