Running. On vacation. Not just any vacation, but a Disney getaway. If you are committed to an exercise regime, trying to burn off a few calories (think Mickey Rice Krispie Treats) or training for your next runDisney event, it’s a no brainer. But if running before or after you traipse through the parks seems entirely antithetical to you, perhaps you should reconsider. Running though a Disney Park is the PERFECT way to stop and smell the Disney roses and perhaps experience something familiar in a completely unique way. Recently, Disney Moms Panelist and runDisney Specialist Lori Lovell shared her favorite running paths at Walt...

Terrific Tip Tuesday: Mickey’s Fun Wheel
in All Posts, disney california adventure, mickey's fun wheel, paradise pier, Tips & Tricks for Families
Mickey’s Fun Wheel is the crowning jewel of Paradise Pier and an iconic image of Disney California Adventure. It’s a marvelous Ferris wheel bringing to life the “vintage” times of Walt Disney’s life. Mickey’s Fun Wheel has two different gondola options: swinging and non-swinging. Guests that are subject to motion-sickness should avoid the swinging gondolas. There are two separate lines for either gondola choice. The swinging gondola line is typically longer than the non-swinging, but there are 16 swinging gondolas available so the line moves fairly quickly. The views from Mickey’s Fun Wheel at 150 ft high are spectacular...
Cars Land, one of the two new lands at Disney California Adventure, is home to a great new attraction, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. This attraction is a lot of fun for families and has a height requirement of 32 inches. Located near the main entrance to Cars Land, the attraction is built on a ride floor system similar to the Mad Tea Party (aka “Teacups”) in Disneyland and Francis’ Ladybug Boogie in “a bug’s land” in Disney California Adventure. The floor at the Teacups is a single round plate that rotates. Disney Imagineering took the rotating floor concept up a...

Traveling with kids can be so SO unpredictable – and even if you’ve done it before, you never can be sure how your little ones are going to react on the next trip. I’ve had the screaming baby, the hyper kid, the major bathroom blow-out, the huge spit-up — pretty much all the unsavory traveling scenarios you can imagine. But, I’ve also had the calm, happy, easy-traveling kid. You just never know! Here are some things you might try to do or bring that have helped make traveling with little kids easier: [Most of this article is specifically for...

Fun Fact Friday: Keep Your Eyes Open!
in All Posts, disneyland, fun facts, Randy, Tips & Tricks for Families
Disney is amazing when it comes to little details, and even more so when it comes to details that are also have a payoff somewhere else. One great example of that is the painting shown here. Found on the second floor above the French Market sits this painting of a popcorn cart. That’s nice, but nothing special, right? Well, maybe it looms a little familiar. It does look sort of like the popcorn carts they have in the park. But there’s more to it even than that. When you’re looking at details, it’s easy to get caught up in just one...
Annual Passholders “Glow with the Show” at Exclusive Event
July 3, 2012 in All Posts, disney california adventure, legacy annual pass, vy, world of color
Mouse ears lit up and ready to “Glow with the Show” This past Thursday, I attended a private performance of World of Color reserved for Disneyland Annual Passholders. The show, which was slated to begin at 11:45 p.m., featured the new “Glow with the Show” mouse ears: a black hat decorated with neon Mickeys and topped with white plastic ears. Visitors to the parks can purchase these mouse ears from select vendors throughout Disney California Adventure for approximately $23. They are designed to glow and interact with World of Color, The Mad T Party, and many attractions throughout the park —...
Terrific Tip Tuesday: Favorite Fireworks Viewing Locations at Disneyland
in All Posts, entertainment, fireworks, holidays, Tips & Tricks for Families
No one puts on a fireworks show like Disneyland. From the music to the choreography and story of the show, Disneyland’s fireworks are “Magical.” (As in the Magical fireworks being shown nightly throughout the summer…) With the Fourth of July being tomorrow, I thought this would be the perfect day to post the top 5 places to watch fireworks inside Disneyland. 1. Central Plaza (the Hub) Perhaps the most sought after spot for fireworks, Central Plaza (the area near the Partners Statue) is always packed with guests hoping for the best view of the fireworks. You may be surprised...
The Sweets of Trolley Treats + a look inside the candy kitchen
July 2, 2012 in All Posts, buena vista street, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, interview, trolley treats, video
Trolley Treats is the Disneyland Resort’s new candy shop and is located along the new Buena Vista Steet in the newly reimagined Disney California Adventure park. Offering both pre-packaged and fresh-made treats, Trolley Treats delivers the goods and has something for every sweet tooth. Taking a cue from its Disneyland cousin the Candy Palace, Trolley Treats features a large demonstration kitchen so that guests can watch Disney’s famous candy makers create delicious treats right in front of their eyes. I recently had the opportunity to step inside the Trolley Treats candy kitchen and it was an experience I will...
Fun Fact Friday: Red Car Trolley on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park
June 29, 2012 in All Posts, attraction tips, attractions, disney california adventure, disneyland resort, fun facts, Tips & Tricks for Families
There’s no disputing the fact that I’m a sucker for the past. There’s nothing I love more than authentic storytelling and attention to detail and when the story of our past is told accurately, it is absolutely captivating. The Red Car Trolley system at Disney California Adventure Park has taken storytelling to the next level with impeccable details. The cars are not only authentic in their color and style, but have a great deal of meaning right down to their numbers. The Red Car Trolley attraction was lovingly modeled after the Pacific Electric Railway system which operated in Southern California...
