I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, my kids (well, really the whole family) are HUGE fans of all things Disney Junior – my daughter especially is into the Disney Junior animated series “Sofia the First.” Sofia recently debuted her very own prime-time special entitled “Sofia the First: The Floating Palace” in which Sofia is magically transformed into a mermaid and underwater adventures ensue. (Fun tie-in: Ariel, the Little Mermaid herself, is also a featured character!) 

What with us being stuck inside basically all the time, now that it’s dark early and literally freezing outside here in Idaho – I (oh yeah, and my kids) were excited to see a brand new App out for them to play with with and enjoy. “Sofia the First:The Floating Palace” App – available in the Apple App Store – is based off of the new TV special and includes several entertaining features designed for the 5 years and younger crowd:

• Animated & Interactive Storybook – a read along, the illustrations are beautiful and features the original character voices from the show (very easy for young children to maneuver through).

• Sofia’s Royal Theatre – a “puppet show” of sorts, children can choose different background scenes, music, and characters to personalize their own unique story or to recreate The Floating Palace (trickier to master – this part of the app is easier for those closer to the 5 year mark)
