On Sunday, the Babes In Disneyland team and I participated in the 20th Annual CHOC Walk in the Park held at the Disneyland Resort. We arrived before sunrise in order to support the great work done by the folks at CHOC. Together, the team raised $2,260.
I thought the walk would be a great opportunity to raise some money for a good cause, meet some of my readers, and share Disneyland early in the morning with my kids. I now know that I walked for so much more. Walking in the CHOC Walk means walking for the men and women who work tirelessly to help sick children. It means walking in support of the children who made it against the odds. Walking in the CHOC Walk is walking in support of the children whose parents no longer get to hold them in their arms and kiss them good night. Walking in the CHOC Walk is walking for the children of the future who may become ill…maybe even my own children.
I feel so fortunate to be able to kiss my boys sweet cheeks and nuzzle my nose into their soft hair. I am thankful for every messy face and spilled glass of milk. The CHOC Walk provided me with the ability to reflect upon my good fortune and opened my eyes to the suffering of other parents and families endure. CHOC provides families with hope and I am thankful to know that they are there for all of us in Southern California
I would like to thank my amazing team for working hard to raise so much money. It may not seem like a lot, but I know that money will go very far to provide the kids at CHOC the creature comforts that make being a kid possible while enduring medical treatments. I would also like to thank Maclaren for providing me a Twin Triumph stroller so that I didn’t have to push my old tank of a double stroller through the park. The CHOC Walk in the Park was a great morning and I hope that you will consider joining our team next year.
Still not sure if you want to join us next year? Check out this video that I put together about the CHOC Walk experience.

This was very different than the 5k (and half marathon). I will be doing the 5k again next year and staying the entire weekend in Anaheim at the Hilton. I hope we’ll be able to meet up!
