Beginning May 2, 2011, a new merchandise return policy will be implemented for merchandise purchases made at any Disney-owned-and-operated store within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Please note that the return and exchange policy time period will change to 30 days.
Although not required, it is a lot easier to make a return if you hold on to your receipts. Disneyland guests who wish to return or exchange merchandise after their visit, should contact Merchandise Guest Services at 877-560-6477 (number updated August 2011). If you traveled to Walt Disney World and would like to return merchandise, you can call (407) 363-6200. Guests can also call the Disneyland toll-free number and wait for the Walt Disney World prompt to be transferred to Walt Disney World toll free.
I contacted Walt Disney World about a defective piece of merchandise today. After I described the item and the problem to the Cast Member, she looked up the item and asked me to send her a copy of my credit card bill with the purchase on it. Walt Disney World will be sending me a replacement. It was super easy.
