This time around we’re going to compare Kid’s Meals throughout Disney’s California Adventure park, to show you where to go to save on a meal or if you feel like splurging (also I try to look for meals beyond the usual hot dog/hamburger/chicken nuggets fare)! Check here to see our Save vs. Splurge in DCA picks for the regular menus!
Breakfast SAVE: Flo’s V-8 Cafe. For a super-filling kid’s breakfast meal, head to Flo’s V-8. You can find three great breakfast choices, a waffle plate, a fruit plate, and a an “American Breakfast” plate loaded with hearty eggs, bacon, potatoes and fruit – with prices between $5.49 and $6.49 you are spending just as much as you would on a pastry and milk from a cafe, and yet with this breakfast your child is going to have plenty of energy and a full tummy for the entire morning.
Lunch SAVE: Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta / Paradise Garden Grill. This one was is a tie for a few reasons: A) The two restaurants are adjacent. B) The kid’s meal prices are the same. C) They both have unique and delicious options! (And D- These are two of my favorites, so how could I choose?!) A Peanut-Butter Pita Wrap – what! Or a Turkey Meatball Sandwich – yum! Both ring in at $6.49, and are served with a side and drink, and totally split-able between youngsters for that extra save!
Lunch SPLURGE: Carthay Circle Restaurant. This beautiful restaurant is a splurge no matter when you go, just by virtue of the surroundings. But the slightly more upscale, and less-common, kid-friendly fare like mini-crispy chicken tacos with toppings, or orecchiette pasta with choice of sauce (for between $8-$10) should make both you and your little one quite happy.
Dinner SAVE: Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill. Mexican is one of my kid’s favorite types of food – we eat quesadillas regularly around here. And although we haven’t had the opportunity to try out this restaurant yet, it’s on my To-Do list because I know they would love the chicken quesadilla or bean-and-cheese burrito, both of which come with rice, fruit, and drink? They also offer the Arroz Con Pollo Toddler Meal here for $4.49, which I’ve mentioned before. For the regular kid’s meals, $6.99 is a pretty good price for dinner in the parks – and again, splitting is always a great option – especially if you are planning to pick up some hot churro bites, or other dessert later on!
Dinner SPLURGE: Ariel’s Grotto (World of Color Dinner). This is about as splurgey as it gets, the prix fixe meal for $21.99 children ages 3-9 have some pretty terrific sounding options for dinner, but the Tri-Tip with cheddar mashed potatoes makes me want to be a kid again! The meal also comes with an antipasti, salad, rolls, a drink and a dessert. But the best part are the FASTPASS tickets to see World of Color after your meal! (Visit at breakfast or lunch and meet and greet all the Disney Princesses as they visit your table!)
Snack SAVE: Cozy Cone 1 / Paradise Garden Grill / Trolley Treats. Gosh, there are sooo many mouth-watering snacks and desserts around this park, it’s super hard to pick just one, and most of them are around the same price point, which is why I’ve got another tie! What’s going to make a kid smile more than a churro? Churro bites from The Cozy Cone (1) with chocolate dipping sauce for $4.99. Back at the Paradise Garden Grill, for the same price, kid’s will love the Strawberry/Brownie/Marshmallow skewer. If you are looking to save a bit more, the most affordable treat in the park is going to be the chocolate-dipped pretzel from Trolley Treats, at $1.95.
Snack SPLURGE: Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. You know that anything from Ghirardelli’s is going to taste like a splurge, but specifically for kiddos you can get the Kid’s S’more Sundae for $6.95 and it is truly going to make their little taste-buds sing a happy song.
