Babies and Disneyland make sense to me. I have been taking my boys since they were wee babes. There’s nothing like the look on a baby’s face when they see Mickey for the first time (for better or for worse).
Princess Dot’s Puddle Park is a great place for a crawler or toddler to get wet and let loose! |
Because Babes In Disneyland is written for families with little ones, I get a lot of questions about what it’s “really like” to take babies to Disneyland. Here are some basics for those of your considering taking your diaper-wearing cuties to the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
- Pack a lot of stuff. Babies require a lot and there’s nothing worse than being unprepared.
- Know about the Baby Care Centers and what they sell. It’s your best friend…and your baby’s.
- Just because you are going with a baby, it doesn’t mean you are sentenced to 40 trips on King Arthur Carousel. There’s lots to do with small tots. In fact, there are only a handful of attractions your little one cannot go on. Click here to read more!
- Know the scoop on diaper changing and where you can access bathrooms FAST when you need them.
- Know where to take your toddler to get some energy out away from the crowds.
I always recommend dressing kids in costumes. Costumes make for great pictures and the Cast Members and characters really fuss over the kids. |
In my book, I offer families everything they need to have a great trip to the Disneyland Resort–from what to pack to which attractions and shows are appropriate for young children to how to navigate the resort with a special needs child. “Babes In Disneyland: The ultimate Disneyland Resort guide for families with young children.” It is available at Amazon.com (and qualifies for Super Saver Shipping) and is also available at Lulu.com at 20% off the cover price.

I loved having my babies at Walt Disney World with me. No one is ever too young or too old for Disney!

We are considering making our next 3-day Disneyland trip in early December, when (presumably)kid #2 will be 8 weeks old. We took kid #1 when he was 4 months and it went pretty well – I am worried about taking such a small baby for an extended amount of time though… any thoughts/suggestions/ recommendations?

Lisa, Do you have any tips for Trick or Treating with my 2 year old at California Adventures in October?
THE Disneyland Mom says
McConnels and 805 Buckaroo – I will write posts for each of you. I probably won’t have the Halloween one up until the first or second week of October, because I’ll need to see what they are doing in DCA this year given the construction. I will have a post up about visiting with a really young baby up next week!

Lisa, Your post (and book :D) address the question I hear most from first-timers! The answer to: Is my child too young for a Disney Park? Always a resounding NO!!
