Disneyland basics for families with babies + the Disney Blog Hop!

July 21, 2011 in All Posts, attraction tips, babes in disneyland, babies & toddlers, baby center, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort by Babes in Disneyland

This week’s hop is being co-hosted by Disney Babies Blog–a blog all about taking babies and little ones to Walt Disney World!  It’s full of great posts and info for families and I LOVE it!

Babies and Disneyland make sense to me.  I have been taking my boys since they were wee babes.  There’s nothing like the look on a baby’s face when they see Mickey for the first time (for better or for worse).

Princess Dot’s Puddle Park is a great place for
a crawler or toddler to get wet and let loose!
Because Babes In Disneyland is written for families with little ones, I get a lot of questions about what it’s “really like” to take babies to Disneyland.  Here are some basics for those of your considering taking your diaper-wearing cuties to the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
  • Pack a lot of stuff.  Babies require a lot and there’s nothing worse than being unprepared.
  •  Know about the Baby Care Centers and what they sell.  It’s your best friend…and your baby’s.
  •  Just because you are going with a baby, it doesn’t mean you are sentenced to 40 trips on King Arthur Carousel.  There’s lots to do with small tots.  In fact, there are only a handful of attractions your little one cannot go on.  Click here to read more!
  •  Know the scoop on diaper changing and where you can access bathrooms FAST when you need them.
  • I always recommend dressing kids in costumes.
Costumes make for great pictures and the Cast Members
and characters really fuss over the kids.
  • Know where to take your toddler to get some energy out away from the crowds.

In my book, I offer families everything they need to have a great trip to the Disneyland Resort–from what to pack to which attractions and shows are appropriate for young children to how to navigate the resort with a special needs child.  “Babes In Disneyland: The ultimate Disneyland Resort guide for families with young children.”  It is available at Amazon.com (and qualifies for Super Saver Shipping) and is also available at Lulu.com at 20% off the cover price.
Now on to the Disney Blog Hop!
•   This blog hop is for ALL Disney-related blogs, whether you blog about the parks, animation, a specific character, Disney corporate, etc.  If you are a blogger who covers Disney, feel free to enter, but be sure to enter a URL that directly sends readers to your Disney-taged posts.
•   Enter your blog below.
•   Check out the other blogs and follow them through Google Friend Connect, on Facebook, etc.  Just let ’em know you checked them out and like what they are doing.  We all like to know we have new readers.  I see you do it on other blogs, so make sure you let me know too!
•   Welcome new readers to your blog!  Each week we do something a little bit different.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WEEKLY THEME/POST TO PARTICIPATE.
•   Also optional, please consider posting the Disney Blog Hop button on your blog or web site so that we can spread the word.  It would also be great if you wouldn’t mind tweeting about the blog hop so that more Disney blogs with participate.  The more bloggers who find out about the hop, the more new readers you’ll have linking over to read all about you.
Do you “like” Babes In Disneyland on Facebook?  I am giving away another copy of my book once we hit 1,000 fans!

I loved having my babies at Walt Disney World with me. No one is ever too young or too old for Disney!

We are considering making our next 3-day Disneyland trip in early December, when (presumably)kid #2 will be 8 weeks old. We took kid #1 when he was 4 months and it went pretty well – I am worried about taking such a small baby for an extended amount of time though… any thoughts/suggestions/ recommendations?

Lisa, Do you have any tips for Trick or Treating with my 2 year old at California Adventures in October?

McConnels and 805 Buckaroo – I will write posts for each of you. I probably won’t have the Halloween one up until the first or second week of October, because I’ll need to see what they are doing in DCA this year given the construction. I will have a post up about visiting with a really young baby up next week!

Lisa, Your post (and book :D) address the question I hear most from first-timers! The answer to: Is my child too young for a Disney Park? Always a resounding NO!!

I don’t have kids, but I know for sure that I’ll take my children to Disneyland. Great post and I love the cute pictures.
