When Adventures By Disney launched several years ago, I wasn’t quite sure what to think about this new Disney travel venture. I mean, Disney outside of Disney? Really?
Last month I had the opportunity to experience the Lights, Camera, Magic tour operated by Adventures By Disney, and now…I totally get it. Adventures By Disney truly does offer exceptionally unique vacation opportunities. Now that I’ve experienced it for myself and learned so much more about how it works, I’ve figured out the best way to describe it to those like me who just aren’t sure what to think.
Adventures By Disney takes the ease of enjoying a cruise vacation and brings it to land-based adventures.
Adventures By Disney trips (tours) are offered around the globe and provide guests with the opportunity to vacation without having to worry about things like transportation, lodging, food or whether or not the kids are having a good time. Led by Adventure Guides who are former Disneyland or Walt Disney World Cast Member or guides who have been vetted and specially trained by Disney, the tour take guests on truly unique adventures that allow guests to sit back, relax, enjoy and absorb.
My trip was the one-day Adventures By Disney trip that takes guests from the Disneyland Resort to Hollywood/Los Angeles for the day. If you will be visiting the Disneyland Resort and want to see L.A. but don’t want the hassle of trying to find your way around on the crazy So Cal freeways, this trip is for you!
The trip begins with a bus trip from the Grand Californian to Los Angeles. As the bus travels along the freeways, the Adventure Guides provide guests with trivia and information about Los Angeles. During the day-long trip, guests are treated to an amazing tour of the Dolby Theater (home of the Oscars), a scenic tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills aboard the motor coach and lunch at the world famous Los Angeles Farmers’ Market. And in true Adventures By Disney fashion, guests don’t have to worry about a THING. Guests are provided with not only snacks and the Dolby Theater tour as part of the over all adventure, but other fun surprises and a voucher for lunch at the Farmers’ Market.
And here’s the best part…the part that’s worth every penny of the tour if you are a big, big Disney fan. (The tour is $199 for adults 10 and over and $189 for children 4-9). The day in L.A. ends with a tour of the Walt Disney Studios. That’s right! This tour provides guests with the opportunity to see the Walt Disney Studios and I’m not just talking a quick walk through the campus. Guests get to go inside the buildings, see the multi-plane camera used to create Snow White and spend time in the Legends Plaza, which is known to Disney fans as Disney’s equivalent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Lights, Camera, Magic tour is full of so many lovely surprises throughout the day that while I would love to tell you about all of them, I think it’s best to leave some of them secret so that you can enjoy them as they pop up during your special tour.
The tour is recommended for children ages 4 and older, but I personally think a child should be at least 6. (It’s a LONG day and the content of the tour may not be engaging for children younger than 6, or maybe even 7.) The tour is led by at least two Adventure Guides and when there are a lot of children on the tour, one guide pays special attention to the kids and plays games with them and provides experiences that are more geared for their interests while the adults are learning about history and other tidbits that the kids tend to tune out.
In fact, the Adventures By Disney guides on all tours work to create magical experiences for the kids and adults alike. On extended tours around the world, Adventure Guides provide children of all ages on the tour with meaningful experiences that make the trips more interesting for the kids and less stressful for mom and dad. Some of the trips even include an opportunity for mom and dad to get some time without the kids to sightsee or grab a romantic dinner.
Adventures By Disney is a full-service tour. I was really impressed with the attention to detail and unique experiences provided. Remember when I said I didn’t get the Adventures By Disney concept? Now I’m a total believer. You can learn more about Adventures By Disney by clicking here.
