Terrific Tip Tuesday: Tips for Moms-to-be and New Moms visiting the Disneyland Resort

January 15, 2013 in All Posts, babies & toddlers, baby center, characters, disney california adventure, disneyland, disneyland resort, pregnant, strollers by Babes in Disneyland
If you are pregnant or just had a new baby, your Disney dreams are not over. As a mother of three, I have visited Disneyland while pregnant on many, many occassions and enjoyed the parks with my babies when there were still very, very young. In fact, premise of visiting Disneyland with young children is at the heart of Babes In Disneyland.

Over the years, we’ve posted lots of article on visiting with babies and while pregnant. Here are our top 5 favorite tried-and-true tips for moms-to-be and new mommies and daddies.

Pregnant at Disneyland

Being pregnant at Disneyland doesn’t mean you won’t have any fun. In fact, pregnant moms can go on almost all of the attractions, with the exceptions of those high-speed or turbulent attractions. Mommies far along in their pregnancy may find a day at Disneyland a little more difficult than those at the beginning of their pregnancy, but it’s still a lot of fun…especially if you follow our tips and advice. For more information on visiting the Disneyland Resort, check out our first hand tips by clicking here for part one in our Disneyland while pregnant series and here for part two.

Infants at the Disneyland Resort
Taking an infant to Disneyland is not as difficult as you might think. While many parents cringe at the idea, it is certainly not as tough as it sounds and I’ve even done it alone…with two other children in tow. In fact, I’m here to tell you that it is much, much easier than taking a toddler. Click here for my tips on taking an infant to the Disneyland Resort. And trust me, not only is it not as hard as you think, you will have a really terrific time!

Picking the Right Stroller for a Disneyland Resort Trip
If you will be visiting the Disneyland Resort with a young child, having the right stroller can make a great day downright magical. Not only does the stroller serve as home base for your family, but can provide your child much needed rest throughout the visit. Click here for insider tips on picking the right stroller for a Disneyland Resort visit.

Toddlers and the Disneyland Resort
So let’s say you’ve decided to avoid Disneyland with your beautiful baby and now that he/she is a toddler you are finally ready to brave the parks with your little one. If your sweet angel is in the midst of the terrible twos or fearsome threes, these visits can be trying. My youngest son is a fearless, stubborn ball of energy and if you have a child like this, you know what I’m talking about. Whether your sugar pie is as sweet as candy or as trying as a new puppy, we’ve put together a list of the best rides for toddlers (click here). And if you still need a little convincing when it comes to taking your terrific toddler to the resort, click here to check out our top five reasons (mixed with a bit of humor). If you’re a mom, I’m sure it will make you smile.

Making the Most of Disney Firsts
Don’t forget to dress your little
on in a Disney outfit or costume
for extra cute pictures!

Whether a child’s first visit to the Disneyland Resort is as a baby, toddler or in-utero, it is indeed a special event for the entire family. Upon entering the parks, be sure to stop by City Hall at Disneyland or the Chamber of Commerce at Disney California Adventure and ask for special “We’re Celebrating” buttons for the family and a special “first visit” button  for the little one. (We put ours on the stroller.) Also, be sure to get a picture with Mickey; it’s a must. He can always be found in his house in Toontown and sometimes on Main Street. If you want to get more pictures of your precious little one with the characters, you can make the most of your time by stopping by the information boards at Disneyland (near Central Plaza and the entrance to Adventureland) or near the Carthay Circle theater in Disney California Adventure Park and a Cast Member can help you find the friends you are looking for. And, if you are hoping to commemorate your special trip with a souvenir, we’ve come up with a list of the perfect must-haves to make that first visit even more memorable. Click here to check out our list!

The Disneyland Resort Baby Care Centers
My little guy at the Baby Center on his first visit.
So tiny and sweet!
Just in case you didn’t click over to the article on taking an infant to the Disneyland Resort, I am going to reiterate one KEY service provided by the Disneyland Resort that a surprising amount of parents do not know about: the Baby Care Centers. Located in the Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure Park and at the end of Main Street at Disneyland, the Baby Care Centers provide families with everything they could possibly need for baby while at the Resort, including diapers, wipes, pacifiers, food and formula, as well as private areas for breastfeeding and changing baby and tiny potties for potty trainers. Learn more about the Baby Care Centers by clicking here and learn more about the items sold in the Baby Care Centers by clicking here.
