Last summer we had several guests visiting from out of town, which in my book is the perfect excuse for a Disneyland Resort trip! A group of great friends, including Evan (my trusty sidekick), Steve, Cheryl, Logan, my Mom, and Aunties Pat and Cathy, and I all piled into my “Mommy-Van” for a fabulous weekend full of new experiences, lots of fun, and of course — laughter. Even though we visit Disney California Adventure frequently, I make a special effort to do something different each and every time — and this trip was no exception.
We danced with Phineas and Ferb, became honorary Green Army Men, took pictures with our favorite characters, and of course rode several awesome rides. Evan and Logan loved Soarin’ Over California, Toy Story Midway Mania!, and Mickey’s Fun Wheel. I was quite thrilled to be able to experience California Screamin’ for the first time!
As the mama of two kids who do not yet meet the height requirement for most of the larger and faster rides (i.e. Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, and California Screamin’), I often miss out on the thrill and excitement a good roller coaster brings. Once at least one of them meets the height requirements, we’ll be excited to use Rider Switch Pass (read more about this in Lisa’s book) so that both parents can experience the attraction! Thankfully all of the stars were aligned just right on this trip. We had plenty of adults to stay with the kids, and Steve a.) met the height requirement (ha ha- he’s over six feet tall), and b.) loves fast rides as much as I do.
I have to say that the years of waiting were well worth it — the ride was awesome! From the words “3…2…1… Blast Off” we were loving the view, soundtrack, loop, drops, and of course the speed!! Were it not for the forty-five minute wait we would have happily ridden all day long. Next time, we’ll grab a FastPass!
A great time was had by all- especially me! 🙂
Speaking of great times, don’t forget to keep checking Babes in Disneyland for a sneak peek into the great times sure to come at Cars Land and Buena Vista Street! Did we mention this is an exclusive sneak peek? Don’t miss it!
