As a parent, I had always dreaded the day that one of my children would ask me why the characters don’t speak at Disneyland. It’s funny that the silence is accepted up until that certain age when kids become too smart for their own good. My oldest son was 4 1/2 when he asked me and I was caught off guard without a good answer–in spite of knowing that this question would one day happen. I’m not sure how I responded, but whatever I said seemed to suffice and buy us some time on the inevitable realization on how the characters do indeed “come to life” at Disneyland.
Today on the Disney Parks blog, the resort release a truly remarkable video in which Mickey Mouse is able to speak to guests. This new technology is not only amazing but in the future, if or when it is implemented, would help moms like me maintain the magic with their children just a bit longer. The video is below. If you would like to read the Disney Parks Blog post about this, click here.
And for the record…I don’t typically rebroadcast stuff from the Disney Parks Blog. I know this is kind of tacky, but it’s way too cool to not pass along to all of you!

No doubt that kids will love the talking Mickey, but I am sure there are some that will freak out! LOL. 🙂
