Lion King 1 1/2 and Lion King 2 out now on DVD

Currently out of the “Disney Vault” are two really fun Disney DVD releases–The Lion King 1 1/2 and The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride. Available on special edition Blu-ray combo pack, these two movies continue the tale told in the first Lion King movie.

In the Lion King 1 1/2, Timon and Pumbaa reveal where they came from, how they helped Simba save the Serengeti and what really happened behind the scenes of The Lion King’s biggest events. My kids watched this movie for the first time when we received it in the mail from Disney and I can honestly say that I have never heard my boys laugh so hard, so much while watching a movie. It is light-hearted and full of slapstick comedy. They especially loved the very end.

The Lion King 2 chronicles the life of Simba’s daughter Kiara as she must grow and mature as Simba did in the first movie. Timon and Pumbaa can do only so much to protect her as she gets herself into a number of worrisome situations, especially when she encounters an intriguing rival, Kovu, a cub who is being groomed to lead Scar’s pride.

As Kiara and Kovu search for their proper places in the great “Circle Of Life,” they discover that it may be their destiny to reunite their prides andbring peace to the Pride Lands.

Lion King 2 has themes similar to those in the first Lion King and is not as light-hearted as Lion King 1 1/2, but still a lot of fun. If you love the first Lion King, this combo pack is a must for your DVD collection.
