“7D” is an upcoming animated series on Disney Junior that will reinterpret the fairytale world of the Seven Dwarfs. |
The “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” fan in me is so excited about the latest announcement from Disney Junior. Production has begun on a new animated series titled “The 7D,” a comedic contemporary take on the classic fairytale world of the Seven Dwarfs. The series, designed for viewers ages 2 to 7 and their families, is slated to premiere in 2014 on Disney Junior channels and programming blocks.
The series takes place in the whimsical world of Jollywood, where Queen Delightful relies on the 7D – Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy and Doc – to keep the kingdom in order. Standing in their way are two laughably evil villains, Grim and Hildy Gloom, who plot to take over the kingdom by stealing the magical jewels in the 7D’s mine. With seven very distinct personalities, the 7D always manage to save the day and send Grim and Hildy running back to their evil lair to try another day. As with “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” this new series continues Walt Disney’s legacy of reimagining classic stories that engage kids and introduce a whole new generation of little ones to the magic of their favorite characters.
Since its launch in 2011, Disney Junior’s goal has been to reflect the emotional connection generations of fans have to Disney storytelling and characters, both classic and contemporary. It invites mom and dad to join their child in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for young children. Disney Junior’s series blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and beloved characters with learning, including early math and language skills, healthy lifestyles, and social skills.
