This Sunday, I am very proud to be walking in the 20th annual CHOC Walk in the Park held at the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland has had a long-standing, supportive relationship with CHOC. Walt Disney served on the hospital’s original board of directors.
Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) provides Southern California’s children with state-of-the-art medical services with the utmost compassion, even when their parents cannot afford the treatments. CHOC cares for the “whole child” and never loses sight of the fact that they are treated children–not adults–no matter how severe the treatment.
The Babes In Disneyland team has raised raised almost $1800. While that may not sound like a lot when it comes to providing medical services, that money is bound to go far when it comes to providing the children who visit the hospital and its affiliated medical facilities with toys and supplies the staff uses to help the kids feel like kids. CHOC strips away hospital stereotypes by providing its patients with art supplies and video games, toys and opportunities to learn while children are hospitalized or visiting clinics. They even transport their young patients in wagons instead of wheelchairs. Just think what that $1800 could buy!
It is not too late to sponsor one of our team members. You can join our team or donate to one of our walkers by clicking here.
I would like to thank all of my team members for their tireless efforts to raise money for CHOC. Some of us have never met and I am so excited to put a face to the names I’ve been reading comments from here on the blog and the Facebook fan page. I would also like to thank Maclaren for providing me with a new double stroller for the walk. My old double was like pushing a tank and this new stroller will make it so much easier to make it through the 3.2 mile walk.
Next week, I will be posting coverage of the walk, including pictures and a short video. I cannot wait to share this amazing experience with those of you who cannot join us.
