For those of us who can’t be at Disneyland today, I thought we could take a Sunday drive together on the Autopia. Autopia has been a favorite attraction for guests of all ages since it opened on Disneyland’s opening day July 17, 1955. In fact, it has been such a popular attraction, there was once an Autopia attraction in both Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. Although today there’s only one Autopia, guests can utilize FASTPASS for this attraction.
Kids, in particular, get a real kick out of this attraction because they can drive the car themselves! Children must be 32″ or taller to ride this attraction and children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a person 14 years or older. Guests age 7 and older may ride alone if they are at least 54″ tall.
Special tips for riding Autopia:
- Before running to get a FASTPASS for this attraction, check the attraction wait time; it can be rather short during non-peak periods.
- When the line splits, there is no side that is “faster” than the other. It may seem like it while you are in line, but in the end, they both take just about the same amount of time.
- Guests with a FASTPASS should enter the FASTPASS line when it is time to return to the attraction. This area can be a bit congested at times, so be sure to locate a Cast Member if you need assistance.
- Guests in wheelchairs should enter through the standard queue and proceed around the tower to the elevator where a Cast Member will provide further assistance in getting to the cars. Guests must be able to transfer from their wheelchair to the cars. It is a step down into the cars, if your mobility is limited, you may want to take a look at the boarding area from outside the attraction before waiting in line.
- Guests with a special assistance pass should speak with an Autopia Cast Member about how to access the attraction.
- Because there is the possibility of being bumped from behind or bumping into the car ahead of you, pregnant women should not ride this attraction.
- Guests should not ride this attraction if they suffer from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems or motion sickness. Guests who are sensitive to the smell of gasoline or gas fumes may also want to take a pass on Autopia.
