The Candlelight Procession is an annual two-day private Disneyland event held in the public setting of Town Square of Disneyland. Started in 1958 by Walt Disney, the event is Disneyland’s annual Christmas card to special invited guests and park guests lucky enough to grab a spot along the outskirts of Main Street hours before the show begins.
The Candlelight Procession is tough to put into words. It features approximately 600 singers–including Disneyland Cast Members and carolers from local schools and churches selected to participate–who carry electric candles in a beautiful procession up to the Disneyland train station. The singers are accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra, bell choir, two soloists, and a celebrity narrator who reads the story of Christmas. Many guests are surprised by the religious nature of the program, but even those who are not particularly religious are moved by the beauty and majesty of the event.
This year’s Candlelight Procession will take place Saturday and Sunday, December 3 and 4, at 5:30 and 8 and will be narrated by Gary Sinise. I am thrilled and honored to be an invited guest at this year’s event and will write all about my experience afterward.

How can Candlelight be at 9:30, the same time as fireworks?

Hi Timothy! Sorry about the type-o. I have put in the right time for the second show. Not sure how I ended up with 9:30 in there!!! That’s what I get for typing and watching tv at the same time. 🙂 Happy Holidays!!!!
