It’s the first time since 2019 that the Disneyland Resort has welcomed Guests to experience Halloween festivities at the Parks. While the after hours party “Oogie Boogie Bash” is already sold out, there are plenty of ways to experience this spooky celebration during your next visit to The Disneyland Resort during their Halloween time celebration, which runs starting Friday, September 3 through October 31, 2021.
Here is a list of our five favorite reasons to celebrate Halloween at Disneyland in 2021!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit at Downtown Disney
New for 2021 is a brand new scavenger hunt at the Downtown Disney District (no theme park admission required!) If you are familiar with the Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt during the Easter holiday, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit will be a fun activity for the whole family. The fun kicks off September 9 to October 31, 2021 or while supplies last.
How to Join the Pursuit
- Purchase a game board and stickers at select merchandise locations, including World of Disney, Disney’s Pin Traders, Disney Home, The Disney Dress Shop and WonderGround Gallery.
- Have fun hunting for hidden decorative pumpkins themed to Disney characters and placing the corresponding stickers on your game board.
- Whether you choose to hunt for pumpkins or not, return your game board to a redemption location—World of Disney or Disney’s Pin Traders—for a spooky surprise.
Halloween Decor at Disneyland Park
The orange bunting is out on full display at the Parks and the lights are covered with the iconic Halloween time decor. Is it really Halloween without a picture with “winky Mickey” aka the Mickey Mouse Jack-O-Lantern? Or visit the Halloween Tree in Frontierland, inspired by the 1972 novel called “The Halloween Tree” by Ray Bradbury.
Halloween Themed Attractions
At both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, experience attractions that have a Halloween twist to them. These limited-time overlays are a great way to experience a classic attraction in a brand new way. The list of attractions include:
- Haunted Mansion Holiday – where Jack Skellington wrecks the halls with a “Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay – celebrating its 20th anniversary this year!
- Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
- Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-o-Ween
- Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree
Dia De Los Muertos Celebration at Plaza de la Familia
Guests may commemorate the celebration of the Day of the Dead with a colorful Día de los Muertos tribute featuring a musical trio of iconic skeleton figurines, brightly colored flowers and other decorative items in Frontierland. Over at Disney California Adventure, at the Plaza de la Familia at Paradise Gardens. This limited-time celebration honors the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, with entertainment, festive foods, crafts and interactive experiences. Guests can also enjoy “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” an entertaining street show honoring Disney and Pixar’s “Coco” and the everlasting bonds of family. Enjoy Mariachi music at Paradise Gardens Bandstand; The World of Coco, an evocative art exhibit; a photo opportunity with a hand-animated figure of Miguel from “Coco” as well as the iconic Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) photo location and memory wall.
“Halloween Screams” Projection Show
Every night from Sept. 3 – Oct. 31 at Disneyland Park, guests can enjoy “Halloween Screams”, a supernatural projection and special effects show. Only on weekend nights, “Halloween Screams” also will take to the skies and enhance the mischief with fireworks.* Guests will be able to view the spectacular from several different locations throughout the park, including Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and near “it’s a small world.”
