Has Sofia the First mania hit your house? It sure has hit mine! Nearly every Friday night when I pick her up, my three year old daughter Emma asks; “is it new Sofia night?” If you haven’t yet shared Sofia with your prince or princess I cannot recommend it highly enough (click here for my previous review).
A television movie featuring Sofia and her road to becoming a princess aired in November and was watched by over 5 million viewers. The weekly animated Sofia the First series aired on Disney Junior and Disney Channel in January and has become wildly popular; so much so that Disney has announced a second season. Princess Sofia is a great role model for young girls. She is kind and caring and learns life lessons such as honesty, kindness, and friendship in each episode. One of my favorite things about watching the show is the ability to revisit Disney princess characters from the past such as Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty who are the headmistresses of Sofia’s school.
If you haven’t yet seen Sofia the First or missed the premiere episode the release of the Sofia The First: Once Upon a Princess DVD comes at a great time. Also included with the DVD is a Princess in Training Activity Kit complete with stickers and tiaras that can be decorated to your child’s liking. One of our weekly movie nights consisted of a Sofia the First viewing party where Emma loved wearing the crown she had decorated.
