Tonight, in full Disney grandeur, Disneyland Resort executives unveiled their plans for the special shows and more planned for Disneyland’s 60th celebration. Here is a first look at what guests can expect to experience staring May 22, 2015:
“Paint the Night”
The biggest news of the night is the news of Disneyland’s new night-time parade, “Paint the Night.” The new parade will illuminate Main Street U.S.A. and the rest of the Disneyland parade route with vibrant color and more than 1.5 million lights. Both the floats and the costumes will light up!
The parade will bring Disney stories to life as Mickey Mouse harnesses the power of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust to “paint the night” with Disney dreams that include characters from “Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Toy Story” and “Frozen.” And, of course, Mickey Mouse with appear in the parade’s grand finale float unit.
The parade will include 76 performers and Disney has incorporated a number of special opportunities for guests to interact with the parade as it makes its way through the resort.
World of Color – Celebrate!
“World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” will be a moving celebration of Walt Disney and his Disneyland dream, showing that anything is possible if we never give up on our dreams. Unlike the versions of the show in the past, Mickey Mouse will take guests on an adventure through Walt’s imagination and memorable Disneyland moments. It will include animated imagery, live-action footage, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score. The show will be 22 to 24 minutes long.
“Disneyland Forever” Fireworks
The new Disneyland Forever will take fireworks presentations where they’ve never gone before by immersing guests into the show by projecting special effects that will transport guests to “The Jungle Book,” a flight over London with Peter Pan and more. Classic scenes will be projected on Main Street, “it’s a small world,” Rivers of America and the Matterhorn. The two show will feature two original songs: “Live the Magic and a closing song “Kiss Goodnight,” written by our favorite Disney composer, Richard Sherman. The show will last approximately 12 to 14 minutes is slated to be the largest, installation of projection mapping in Disney Parks history.
Sleeping Beauty Castle and Carthay Circle Overlay
No celebration is every complete without decorations, and the Disneyland Resort hasn’t forgotten two of its best-known icons. Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland and Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure will feature special diamond medallions and will be the crown jewel among the streets that sparkle around them with diamond celebration decor and festive light blue Disneyland banners.
