Paint the Night is one of the best parts of the Disneyland Resort after dark and with the addition of the new Incredibles float, it’s even better. The new bridges “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2” by picking up where the first film left off and portraying the scene that shows the Parr family banding together against the supervillain known as “The Underminer.”
Here’s what to look for when you check out the Incredibles float in the Paint the Night Parade in person!
- Violet Parr uses her superpowers to surround herself with a “force field.” The force field is a custom-built persistence-of-vision (POV) globe – the first and largest ever to be installed on a Disney parade float.
- Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone have new super suits were installed and wired by hand. The suits are fully programmable to sync with the music and float lighting. They are illuminated with nearly 100 sheets of flexible, miniature LEDs. This is the first time these light-up suits are being worn by any Disney or Pixar character.
- The chest logos on the Incredibles’ suits are made up of 60 individually programmable LEDs.
The Paint the Night Incredibles float by the numbers
- The float is 11 feet wide, 18 feet tall and 30 feet long.
- The 13 buildings on the float were created by using 123 individual LED panels. Only two out of the 123 panels are the exact same size and shape.
- Frozone stands nearly 12 feet off the ground on his very own ice trail.
- Dash’s super-human speed is captured using a system of 64 individually lit frames that flash as he races in circles around the float.
- Using his super powers, Jack-Jack pops in and out of four different places on the float.
- The “art wall” at the back of the float uses 150 fixtures, all exactly nine inches apart, to create the cool curve effect.
- It takes approximately 200 individually programmable, embedded lights to create the incredible buildings, Underminer’s drill and Frozone’s ice trail.
