Clearly, Disney is a big part of my life. Here are some of my favorite Disney firsts:
- I first started working at Disneyland as a tour guide in June of 1993. On my first day, I was trained in the phone room by Craig. The first call I took was a question about the Disneyland Fire Department. I was elated that I could answer it without asking for Craig’s help.
- The first “celebrity” I took around Disneyland was the Reverend Robert Schuller from the Crystal Cathedral. I was so excited to meet him, as I attended his church when I was young.
- The first time I went out with my husband, was when I signed him and two of our mutual friends, Megan and Mike, into Disneyland for Megan’s birthday. I had only met my husband in passing, in spite of having a lot of classes together in college, and we really didn’t pay much attention to each other. Mike set us up about a month later and…the rest is history. (Thanks, Mike!)
- My first Disney memory is that of my grandparents and the Disney characters. I believed that Dopy and several other characters lived in my grandfather’s sock drawer…way up high. I would call their house every night. They would “walk” to his dresser, get them out, and their voices would magically come through the phone. I believed all of this to be true until I was a little too old to still believe it. I still have the puppets that were strangely unable to speak to me when we weren’t on the phone.
- I first took my son Aidan to Disneyland when he was nine months. I had not been to Disneyland in about seven years. He helped me to fall back in love with Disneyland after leaving their to pursue a different line of work back in 1998. Brandon was about 10 weeks old for his first visit and Connor was about seven weeks old.
