In a rare appearance outside the Disneyland Resort, Mickey and some of his pals will be featured in an exclusive, complimentary performance Friday, November 18 at 6p.m. to culminate the lighting of the 90ft Christmas tree in Newport Beach’s Fashion Island in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard. Fashion Island is known throughout the region as a premier shopping experience, featuring specialty boutiques, world-class department stores and a wide assortment of restaurants and cafes. Visited by more than 13 million people annually, it offers a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere that is distinctively Southern California.
Immediately following the Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 18, young visitors can meet with Santa to share holiday wishes and take photos. The big man in red will be at his custom-designed house on Atrium Lawn through December 24. Visitors to Fashion Island will also enjoy seasonal entertainment on weekends in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard and Nordstrom Court.
In addition to the festive tradition of the tree lighting, more than a dozen new stores and restaurants have also recently opened for holiday shoppers, many which are exclusive to Orange County or the West Coast. Stores and restaurants that have opened at Fashion Island this year include: Ella Moss, Earnest Sewn, Vince, Jack Spade, Roberto Coin for Traditional Jewelers, Sperry Top-Sider, Athleta, Vineyard Vines, Quiksilver Waterman Collection, Drybar, The Newport Colony Co., Carrol Boyes, and a greatly expanded Apple store. Le Pain Quotidien also opened its first Orange County café and bakery, boasting ocean views in Pacific Court. Additional stores to open prior to the holidays include Rebecca Taylor, Kitson, Uno de 50, Johnny Was, Tesla and Casey’s Cupcakes.
