Since its television premiere, Jake and the Never Land Pirates has been a staple in our home. With three boys, there’s more “Yo ho, let’s go!” and swashbuckling in our midst than you can shake a sword at.

On October 16, the “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Jake Saves Bucky” DVD Combo Pack Set hit retailers and my kiddos have been having a blast with Jake and his crew’s full-length adventure ever since. 

According to the Never Land Pirate Code, Jake and his crew must race Bucky against the Jolly Roger and Captain Hook. If Bucky doesn’t win, he becomes Captain Hook’s ship. In true pirate fashion, Hook tries lots of tricks to win the race. With Peter Pan’s help, Jake and his crew set out on an adventure across Never Land that includes getting past a fire-breathing dragon, all in an effort to win Bucky back.

As with all Jake and the Never Land Pirates episodes, the movie is filled with great music and lessons on teamwork, determination and friendship. And, as an added bonus there are four more regular episodes on the DVD: Peter’s Musical Pipes/The Never Night Star, Captain Hook’s Hooks/Mr. Smee’s Pet, Race-Around Rock!/Captain Hook is Missing! and Captain Hook’s Lagoon/Undersea Bucky!.

To make the DVD experience even more special, the set comes with a Jake and the Never Land Pirates” blow-up sword. (Finally a sword my kids can’t hurt each other with!)

I love Disney Junior DVDs because they are light entertainment great for those days with the kids are home sick or for road trips in the car or airplane flights. Having those episodes on hand make it possible to “put on a DVD” without the commitment of a full movie.
