The Disney Blog Hop has inspired a lot of Disney fans to start their new blogs. As a new blogger, it’s exciting to finally get your thoughts and idea out into the blogosphere and I know that many of you probably have a lot of questions. While I’m not a blogging expert, I’ve been doing it for a while and in a relatively short amount of time, I feel that I have accomplished a lot of really cool things with my blog. In fact, to be quite frank, there isn’t a day that goes by that I still don’t pinch myself when I think about about how my blogging experience has gone beyond my wildest expectations.
If you are a new Disney blogger and have a question you have wanted an answer for, leave it below and I will try to answer it in a future post. In the meantime, I know that many of you are wondering how you can get in on product reviews and giveaways. I have a few suggestions:
- Keep it focused. It’s easy to want to review anything and everything that comes your way. Because my blog’s focus is so specific, I limit my reviews and giveaways to items that can be used for travel and inside the Disneyland Resort, as well as Disney-related items and news. I also review hotels and other tourist attractions. All of the items I review can typically be used for travel in some way or by a Disney fan.
- Remember that your time is worth money. If it is going to take you two hours to write a review, is it worth your while for a free $10 item? You need to evaluate how much your time is worth.
- On the flip side, companies want to see what you have done for others, so in the beginning, consider reviewing things you love (or those inexpensive items) just to get some reviews on your blog.
- If you are interested in working with a company, establish a relationship with them. You should follow them on Twitter and Facebook and engage them regularly. And don’t be afraid to ask, all they can do is say no. I have asked for things I never thought I would get and got ’em!
- Hook up with a company called Business2Blogger. This company connects bloggers with businesses looking to have their products reviewed on blogs. Product reviews aren’t just great for bloggers and there’s lots of businesses out there wanting to get the word out about their products and services.
- Write a disclosure statement. You must disclose if you received something for free. Click here for my disclosure statement.
- Make life easy and make yourself a giveaway template. Click here to see my reviews.
If you have a blogging question, please leave it below and I will answer it in a future post. I would like to thank my dear friend Marcy for setting me off in the right blogging direction.

What is the biggest mistake most beginner bloggers make to drive readers away?

I’ve been going to Disneyland on a monthly basis and recently started blogging about my weekend adventures with my son. So, I was wondering if its appropriate to join the Disney Blog Hop?.. since I do blog about our trips to Disneyland but I also blog about other things and places. Plus how do I get people to follow my blog?

My question is how have you gained followers outside your sphere of influence? I help a lot of my friends plan their Disney vacations but am wanting to broaden my circle. What has been successful for you? Just today I had my first question on Twitter from someone planning their trip and I was so excited! I see twitter being a great tool.
