Do you show off your “Disney side?” That has been Disney Parks and Resorts question for 2014 and recently, I along with social media influencers from across the country, were asked to throw Disney Side @Home Parties so that we could show our playful Disney side while away from the Disneyland Resort–our home away from home.
I decided to combine two things that are very near and dear to me for my Disney Side party–vintage Disneyland and fun party games. I know those seem a bit random, but let me explain:
- I love everything vintage Disneyland. I have a house full of antiques and vintage Disneyland is a perfect fit and allows me to decorate “Disney” without staying too far from our personal style. (And I couldn’t have done it without my friend Ryan and her incredible party decorations available at TinParade.com. Click here to learn more about my vintage decorating.)
- When it comes to games, games and challenges are literally pay my family’s bills. My husband is a television producer who creates games and challenges for games shows and challenge-based reality shows. I always see lots of Minute To Win It game-themed blog posts all over the internet and considering he’s the guy who created most of those games, I thought it would be really cool to have my hubby create Disney-style Minute To Win It games.
And since showing your Disney Side should be all about incorporating your love for Disney into your day-to-day life, I thought this would be the truest representation of my Disney Side!
Here are some of the shots from my Disney Side Party Play Date:
I made Mickey Mouse-shaped sandwiches filled with cream cheese and jam and sunflower seed butter and jam and used vintage-inspired metal tubs to hold our snacks that included Pirate Booty and Ocean Spray Craisins. I also served a baked brie dish and quiche in case any of the parents stopping by to drop off their kiddos got hungry.
I created Mickey-inspired cupcakes using small Oreos as the ears.
The Minute To Win It games were a lot of fun for all of the kids–and we had 12 of them ranging from 3- to 10-years-old!
After 90 minutes of fun and games…and really messy cupcakes served out in my backyard, I thought, “Why not bring all 12 kids into my family room so they can sit on our white sofa!?!” But, hey, I was exhausted and had a whole lot of the new Mickey Mouse cartoons on my DVR and some of the kids had never seen them, so I took one for the team.
Stay tuned for a detailed on all of the Minute To Win It games created by my personal game expert!

Fantastic! I’m going to have to look into that ‘minute to win it’ game option for our next party, the kid game options for parties are always the hardest thing for me?! And I love your red tubs filled with snacks and drinks on your food table… such a cool idea.
